No, we could take care of our own yards using battery-operated tools and lawnmowers. Or we could live in a future-minded community that demanded that the worker bees not use noisy, polluting, gasoline-powered equipment. That WILL happen in the future. It would just be nice if today's homeowners would begin that transition so that equipment manufacturers would start producing more battery-operated large riding lawnmowers. Maybe the cost of a gallon of gasoline needs to go to $10 to get people to act responsibly.

Worked hard all my life so as to be able to have people to do the jobs I no longer wish to do and are able to pay to have done.

My guess is that commercial landscaping power would need lawn mowers that could operate on a longer charge than what is now available.

BTW also not going to purchase an electric car until I can go say 500 miles on a single charge and can get a quick charge along the way to our destination. And at a price I can live with. That day will come but not quite here yet.

Bet you don't do any of the things you're advocating everyone else should do.

You mean like Leonardo DiCaprio, UN global ambassador for global warming flying everywhere in a private jet with his Hollywierd friends?????

or

Jim Carrey singing a ditty making fun of Charlton Heston and the NRA while being protected by armed guards??????

Perhaps check out what is involved in the manufacture and eventual disposal of lithium batteries.

That IS a problem today. But, technology likely will come to the rescue. I know that there is a company that was recently formed to create a new type of battery consisting of all-solid-state tiny cells linked together. Battery-powered motors in cars and tools have several advantages. They have high torque. Also, they spin continuously in a circle which is efficient. Gasoline-powered vehicle motors use straight-line reciprocating motion (of start, stop, reverse) using pistons which MUST then be changed into circular motion and needs an inefficient transmission to provide for torque.
Also, gas engines pollute at MULTIPLE small sources. But, electricity can be generated at larger and fewer sources, thus easier to control any pollution. Small gas engines like golf carts are particularly problematic, also gas riding lawnmowers - really outdated and NOT future oriented!

We agree that the day will come. In the future, commercial lawn workers will carry multiple batteries in order to have enough electrical power for the day. They could charge during their lunch, also if they so chose.
I prefer to cut my own lawn because I don't trust the honesty of people that are unlicensed and may be tipping off their friends as to which home would be best to rob. If you would not invite them to dinner, then maybe you should not have them riding around your yard. I have had my home broken into (even here in bubble-paradise).

Actually, I do. And have for years. Had a plug-in A/C electrical lawn mower in 1965 and cut my 1/2 acre lot with it. Just had to be careful not to run over the extension cord. It was powerful and QUIET and it started 100% of the time - something no one can say for their gas mowers (and they are noisy and smelly).
.........So basically I had GREAT advantages using electrical mowers and motors as far back as 1965.
