That's the exact logic we based our decision on. I'm going to be 64 in December. I'm not planning ahead as much as I use to.

In an unrelated topic, we are staying in the waterfront inn at Sumter. We rented a golf cart today and using the gps golf cart app we drove up to Mulberry Lane and Phillips Villas then drove to Spanish Springs and back to Sumter. Driving up to the Villas, we went through numerous neighborhood streets in what seemed to me to be a very indirect route. I think we could have gone Buena Vista all the way, correct? Would that make sense next time we are down here and want to drive the cart from our house to Sumter?

Unlike a aorta valve that can they can replace with catherization, this would require open heart surgery.

I had been collecting ads for 4K TVs for the past 6 months watching the price go down. So when I got back from the VA Hospital in Gainesville, I went to Best Buy and bought a Samsung 75" HD 4K TV, and right before that I bought a new 2017 black Subaru Crosstrek. I thought, might never see these things unless I get them now. My wife, she got a new LG washer and dryer and we got new living room furniture, leather love seat and 2 recliners.

Yeah, wish you the best and a long life John!

Thanks. Yeah that's what I thought after looking at a golf cart map. If I had to drive a golf cart following the route the app sent us on today, I would take the car instead. So many lefts and rights through neighborhood streets it was ridiculous.

Stop at the sales center and get the $5 map.

Bruce, Congratulations on your purchase. The first time I rented in The Villages was a beautiful patio villa in the Village of Chatham near Nancy Lopez. Really liked that area, but there is not one part of TV that I don't like, or couldn't see myself living in. Enjoy your new home!

The golf cart app gives very weird directions. From Amelia Vlg off Odell going to Lake Sumter Landing the one time I used it had (and still does) tell you to make a left turn off Odell and then 3/4 mile out of the way in the opposite direction then 1 back to Odell 1 block below where it made you take the left after having you drive 3/4 miles through side streets. The app is a "nice try" but really is a fail.

It seems some areas are very poorly mapped and some areas are ok. It has never given me proper directions for where I live to anywhere. Fortunately I don't need it anymore.

We need a voice of reason like you to be here for many moons. I do hope all the medical issues work out well for you. As for the recent additions to your inventory I think you're definitely on the correct track but a new Bose sound System would be great with that TV. Life's for livin let er rip.

You are much better off using Google maps in bicycle mode most of the time...

Bruce welcome home. John I agree with Nucky. Please think about flying to the Cleveland Clinic. Number one heart hospital in U.S. and they fix 'em.

Fortunately Other than 1 trip from Amelia to somewhere near Brownwood I've never used it other than just to see where it would take me just for yucks, I've always been very entertained. After the first time I used it and it said it was 1800 miles from Amelia to LSL I pretty much gave up. I have another post in the gps forum about it from when I first moved in. I think the newer areas are just poorly mapped. Also the stability of the Android version is many times better than the iPhone version because the iPhone version consistently crashes on 2 different phones. The android version never crashes but directions (from here) are pretty useless.

Thanks everyone.
I agree with everyone re the gps app. We would be better off just looking at the map of the golf cart trails in the villages. We will do that next time.
Unfortunately we are back in RI today. I'm still working until July 21st when I retire for the second time. Hasbro hired me back a year after my first retirement.
Can't wait until sometime in mid August when my wife, Nancy, and our beagle, Ralphie, are back for an extended stay in our new courtyard villa. Getting excited about buying a golf cart which I will be researching in the weeks ahead. Things will look a little different then as the new Cody's will be taking shape as well as possibly a new commercial development (not sure if they know what that will be at this point) right in front of Phillips Villas.
Many may know this already but I believe Phillips Villas was named after George Phillips, a Villages salesman, who was killed in a tragic highway accident a couple of years ago.

Someone who went to church with him told us about him. He must have been such a wonderful man.

Yes, go Buena Vista the whole way. If I remember, there will be 5 tunnels to go through, so there is a lot of zigzagging, but BV will be nearby. You can eliminate two tunnels, they are the 2 nearest to Arnold Palmer. After passing the country club itself, there is 2 putting greens and then a par 5, all on your right. Just before that tunnel at the end of that cart path on your left, there is a opening in the hedge to your right. You can cut through there and come out behind Laurel Valley Rec Center, you eliminate actually 2 tunnels. You then circle around the rec center, follow the path, and then go into a tunnel under 466 and then circle Saddlebrook Rec Center next to the softball fields, and then go into a tunnel before you would of reached the polo fields. I know this is all confusing, it's best to learn as you do it yourself.

To all the other posters wishing me well. I am doing well, that's why I go to the gym 5 days a week. I'm a little slower right now, but that because I tore my rotator cuff April 7th lifting weights and I'm just now starting to do some light weights. I do the treadmill about 70 minutes everyday. I feel good, no worries.
