Has anyone gotten this web page to work on a Windows 10 PC?

I have tried it with 3 browsers - Firefox, Edge and Chrome. The results are identical on all of them - the page is darkened (like a with a black filter), the page appears to the zoomed in, no control buttons, no sound, the image of the performer does change apparently as the song changes.

I just noticed last night that the latest version of The Villages app now streams WVLG live. Much better sound quality than the AM broadcast with its 60’s tinny thin sound. It’s still not streaming on iHeart Radio which would make listening a lot more convenient. It’s a little progress.

I would listen to the station a lot more if the sound quality was better. Hello Villages are you listening? We know you’re out there reading all the web traffic! Time to upgrade the radio station to modern times.

Thanks for letting me know. I just updated the app. Love it.

Yes, I actually have it working on all 3 browsers at once. Sounds neat with them all slightly delayed. Win 10 all latest updates applied.

EdFNJ 08-14-2018 11:20 AM

iPhone users, the secret is delete the app then re-download. Not sure why it isn't automatically updating. Everything else does. Maybe they haven't finalized it yet.

Thanks for letting me know. My "problem" is the ad blocker which I use with all browsers. By turning it OFF for the streaming site, I'm Good To Go.

Schaumburger 08-17-2018 01:12 AM

Oh Happy Day. There is a God in Heaven. Just got the updated app for my Samsung phone and also saved the streaming web site on to my laptop.

The only problem so far is that the stream on my smart phone stops after about 5 minutes, and I have to restart it. Hopefully that is just a temporary problem.

Thank you Villages media people!

With so many ways to listen to music, listening to this annoying station via AM is not the way to go.

If I didn’t have a place in The Villages, no way would I listen to this crappy station. But when I’m in RI it reminds me of where I’d rather be.

McGyver9 08-18-2018 01:34 PM

Maybe fix the MAP on the App, while they're fiddling with things?

KEVIN & JOSIE 08-18-2018 10:57 PM

Works great. My Villages app on my Android plays WVLG for a short while and then stops.

While I won't be listening to the WVLG app or on my laptop 24/7, it's kind of nice to hear it for an hour or so a day up here in Illinois. I even enjoy hearing the open house notices in the morning...maybe I'm the only one :)

That's the great thing about technology...if you don't like a TV show or a song on the radio, just turn off the TV or radio or switch to another station. With so many more media outlets available via the internet or satellite, our music, news, and talk choices are just about limitless.

I agree. We don’t listen to the station much while in RI but occasionally we do. And when we do it makes us feel a little closer to Villages. And that’s a good thing.

We also enjoy hearing the open house notices as we are still deciding whether we want to upgrade.

I love listening to WVLG on the AM radio in my 67 Chevelle. Before moving here, all I could listen to while driving my baby is talk radio. Now I can listen to my favorite tunes from the 60s.

Keep up the great work, WVLG.

Schaumburger 08-24-2018 04:29 AM

When I am listening to the WVLG app on my car radio using bluetooth, why does the signal sometimes drop out sporadically and then come back on after a few minutes? Is it because the car is in motion and the 4G on my cell phone get disconnected and then reconnected?

That could happen. But, also, the station seems to cut out more often when listening to it through internet streaming. It is more stable when you listen to it live using the direct AM radio signal, although the sound quality may not be as good.

Schaumburger 08-24-2018 01:55 PM

Just added WVLG's streaming site to my Kindle. My 3 year old Kindle that is probably almost an antique. :)

I have the same problem. It plays for 30 seconds and then cuts out.

Mitch3M77 09-02-2018 06:33 AM

Enjoying the WVLG stream from my poolside in Canada.. Neighbors wonder of pending thundershowers while skies are blue. lol

I removed the App from my phone and then reinstalled it and we are in good shape now. The same exact problem as yours stopped. :)

Thanks. I have tried that (several times) with no improvement. I sent a note to the app developer with no response.

Schaumburger 09-22-2018 08:08 PM

I sometimes now listen to WVLG via bluetooth in my car on my way to and from work. I have an 1 hour, sometimes 1 hour 15 minute commute each way, so I have plenty of time.

Just wondering why the stream sometimes cuts out frequently while I am driving? Some days the stream will stay active for 35 or 40 minutes before cutting out, and other times it cuts out every 5 or 6 minutes.

I'm listening to WVLG right now on my PC. Just played "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. This song was released in 1991, so 1990's songs must now be on their playlist. Definitely trying to appeal to a younger audience.

peanutman 10-07-2018 04:25 PM

the braoder you make it the fewer listeners you have ask any radio pro

peanutman 10-07-2018 04:27 PM

not going to change they tell their dj's screw music your job is to sell those open houses

I completely agree.

I've got the Sirius/XM app on my iPhone and a wireless JBL speaker for my cart - huge choice for music.

Are there extra charges for streaming while not on a wireless connection?

If you're listening through the Sirius/XM app, and NOT on Wi-Fi, you're using cellular data. Depending on your plan, this could be significant, depending on how long you listen each day.

RonGee 10-10-2018 10:06 AM

I agree. After a while the 50's and 60's gets OLD

WVLG is now broadcasting on 102.7 FM. Their signal is strong in Lake Deaton, near Brownwood. The fidelity is much better than their AM 640 signal.

Lottoguy 03-02-2019 10:17 AM

Six months ago I put in a suggestion that the live webcams in the squares have sound so we can hear what is going on. If you notice now they have a volume control on their screen. Looks like their working on it.
