I like it. A little variety.

I pass it quite often whenever I take another route to the Colony area. IMHO, I like the looks of it.

Looks better than some of the crap-brown lawns that people seem to be content with.

This is a thorny issue, perhaps even prickly, but it seems the subject landscaping is incongruous with adjoining terrain.

I think the reason the entire yard is covered with the cactus is to be cost saving maintenance free.. Sort of like replacing all the grass with river Rock which I believe that type of house is not allowed to do.

ricthemic 03-02-2018 02:58 AM

And IMO, it does look totally ridiculous

I don't think plants are considered lawn ornaments? Plus I don't backyards are as restrictive as front yard. I don't care for cactuses, unless their pipe organs. if you've ever been to SW some castus are impressive. , so each their own. One thing if you don't like it just look the other way.

I agree that it is eyesore and I pass it daily. I have often thought that no burglar would dare to tramp through that mess. I know that above 466 folks can have lawn ornaments. The one that drives me crazy is the giant blue angel on Del Mar and Panama, just before Spanish Springs.

Chatbrat 03-02-2018 07:06 AM

Best one is the Dalmation starring at a hydrant also on Delmar

It is all in the eyes of the beholder. Consider the junk vehicles, rusty gas pumps and "farm equipment", bronze cows, derelict and half swamped boats, "genuine" phony "historical" placards, and artificially faded signs and "advertising" posters strewn around our town squares.

biker1 03-02-2018 08:56 AM

And you paid for all of that stuff. New old stuff is not cheap ;-)

Why are neighbors and guests made to look at such an eyesore, right on the street and sidewalk? It’s a community embarrassment!

Sorry, but I disagree completely. I think it’s quite beautiful with an interesting variety of types of cacti.

Because you can not regulate taste and opinion with rules.
