I must say .. site looks ok to me

I just saw the changes this morning, I might use the site once a month so no expert on old format, but IMO, I like the new format more. I like being able to use the left pane to select a price range and see how many are available by village, then select on a village and see just those homes. OMG, I can tell if the ones that meet my criteria have a golf cart garage in the search pane.....

One enhancement I wish all search sites would have is a map view, i.e., put in price, see all homes in The Villages that fit that criteria on a zoom-able map. That allows me to select ones I want details of based on location, e.g., main roads, golf course, etc.

Just type in to your search engine:

The Villages Florida Trulia

You will get a slew of homes for sale.......

You can also use TRULIA for any other town or city or state......

p.s. For what it's worth, The Villages website had homes "still for sale" that had already been SOLD.

p.s. 2:
Also.....where before you could "share" from computer to computer the "video" of the home for sale, during the past few months that feature DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I'm talking about pre owned homes in THE VILLAGES. I'm sure the folks trying to sell, for whatever reason, would like as many of us to see their homes online...........

For those who know which village they'd like to be in.......and where no new building is occurring, pre owned is the only way to go. People have already spent bundles on luxury features and at least one can SEE what they would be getting rather than imagine and hope for the best.

We also liked the aerial views to see what was NEARBY.

The Villages - Florida's Friendliest Retirement Hometown

I didn't see a "feedback" section.
However, I did see a "contact us" section.....click on hyperlink above...or type it in.

I just knew that wouldn't work. The area I sent it from is not what shows up.

However, at the bottom of the link above............just click "contact us" .
On my screen it originally came from pre owned homes and at the bottom it said "contact us".

spoke to my rep today...he knows the two things everyone wants back is the map so you can see the property...and the select new listed preowned...for those who just want to see what was listed today without going thru everything...yep people have called that are trying to buy a house...yes they can find you a home...but both houses we bought i found on line...and said i want that one...rep did not have either on their list to show us ..the newly listed preowned site for someone who is out of state was the way to find a home and buy online if you needed to..I do like the virtual tour but as i told him this morning I do not have the time to spend 20 minutes weeding thru every preowned...he asked if i contacted a mls agent because of this told him honestly yes so the rep said....yes they are aware...is it going to change...not sure

I think it is a bit 'bunglesome" and not as easy as we were used to. I think, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seems they could have used the same format and added further search features such as color of cabinets, golf cart garage, etc.

I think those smart techies that set up these kinds of programs are not on the same wave length as ummm...well "normal" people. lol.:1rotfl:

Just looked at Properties of the Villages website. Yes they have changed the site but you can still get all of the listings of all homes, by village, type house, price range etc. Look at the site carefully and you too will be able to find all the stuff you say is no longer available.

I am an IT guy by trade and I did like the old way because you could view the newest of the pre-owned in a convenient manner if you were just browsing. That said, the new consolodated listings have a far superior query capability and while it does take a few more steps to do the query you get more precise results and the actual information on the individual property is more detailed. I do think each property should have the village listed before having to drill down to the detail but maybe they can do that or else it might be a design decision to draw the customer into the detail on the property.

Sorry about my sassy comment about techies, Blue Jay. I am just jealous.

Thank you for that clarification.:clap2:

The new website is indeed difficult to use.... I tried it once, and definitely prefer the way it used to be. I won't bother using that site again.

I look everyday. Takes some getting used to but it works.

This website change was a major mistake. I had been planning to list my house with The Villages Realty. Now, I'm not too sure. Will any of the MLS brokers take a 5% commission?

Yes.

Cheers

It was explained to me by a Villages agent that years and years ago, pre-owned homes were indeed listed on MLS. However due to conflicts between agents, The Villages developed their own VLS (Villages Listing System.)

Ohh figured it out...Besides the ""Show on map" option, there is another map options if you click on "View Flyer" you can see both aerial and street views

I noticed that VLS doesn't show taxes, age of resale, total days listed and price reductions.

You can get this information on the resales that use MLS.

Have a happy day everyone

Having spent many hours on the "old" pro owned listings before buying our home, I gotta say I like the new layout. I find it easier to navigate with more information options. I found it very annoying in the old version when you would get page after page of Pendings instead currently active properties. BTW, we did not end up buying from TV, but used a local Realtor who did a great job for us!
