ABsolutely right. Why no one will tell us how many people in The Villages itself have died is beyond me. Is this a secret?

The propaganda media are panic mongers. Sorry bunch of people.

Everyone wants to blame somebody. One country is the reason and USA isn't the reason.

The problem with The Villages is that very few statistics are actually taken from The Villages. They are usually done by county. So even though we can see numbers from the three counties, we don't know how many of those cases are in The Villages proper. Lake is a big county with only a small section in The Villages. The same can be said for Marion. Sumter has the prison where the number of cases is going to be higher than the outside world. So just because Florida or any of the three counties goes up or down, that doesn't mean that the same holds true for The Villages. |
I agree

Roughly 20% of Covid-19 patients require hospitalization but only about 5% require a ventilator. Being placed on a ventilator had been a death sentence for many patients and those that survived did experience long term issues. However, an increasing number of those placed on a ventilator are surviving and with fewer long term effects than previous numbers. Perhaps the health care professionals are learning to use ventilators in a better way. |

Then, always, blame those who report all of it, ignoring and applauding those in the middle of it all. You would think the entire country would applaud any action to slow down the virus, etc. We used to divide on health care, or economics, etc. Now we ignore whatever the issue and simply widen the divide by simply attacking those we are told are the "other side". And we are doing it more openly and more mean spirited than ever before in history. Families of those suffering must be heart broken, at best, as how fellow Americans respond to this challenge. Our country looks weak and uninformed, and most importantly deaf to anyone other than those who agree with us. |
I doubt that. Do you have a reference? Assuming I interpreted the CDC data correctly, it appears that recently the hospitalization rate is about 2%. A rate of 20% may be true for those over 65 but not for young people. The COVID-19 statistics vary greatly with age. Perhaps you are referring to people who have serious symptoms? The vast majority are either asymptomatic or have minor symptoms. According to the Florida COVID-19 dashboard, the hospitalization rate is about 6% (for Florida).

The Question
The original question was why does the Village Newspaper bury the local statistics that are related to the number and spread of the Covid-19 virus?? Moving the data from Page 1 to hard to find on Section A8 is clearly an attempt to "hide the numbers". Again this is a fact and not open to being arguable! A bunch of the responses to this question have nothing to do with the question. Even to the point that some try to make a joke out of a very scary desease. Again..why do you believe the data is being downplayed to the public?
Please stay on the subject. :ho: |
Waldo
It's find "Waldo" time. Can anyone find the Covid-19 numbers in the Daily Sun today? If so
you win the "Find Waldo" challenge.:a040: |

That is how we get right up to the minute numbers of deaths and new cases. We can see them by the State of Florida, or by the county or the country. Right now the country is up and Sumter County doesn't seem to be increasing and Florida isn't rising at this time. Just type in Coronavirus up there and BINGO. You don't have to get mad at The Daily Sun. Maybe they know this trick too and figure everyone knows it and don't put numbers on the front page. Maybe too because at this time Sumter County and Florida do not seem to be in an uptick. I really expected the numbers to rise here in Sumter because of the rally ten days ago. |
