Yes better laughter then sitting on other people's lawns ( had that happen from a uncaring neighbors landscapers). It's all good, except when someone in another house is ill and subjected to the game.Still better then some of the other activities noted on roof tops. Grateful it is the last house on the block that needed a new roof.

Oh, woe is me………

Great post! Not as many “Debbie Downers” as I initially expected

When I looked out it was the CREW from the house being roofed, they were playing soccer, yes, playing soccer in the street from the house they were working on (?) to the middle of the block. I could not believe my own eyes. Definitely DO NOT deny these VERY hard working people deserve breaks and some stress release time. We recently had our roof replaced and both days I gave the crew hot coffee and donuts, and also small gift cards for each to buy a lunch, but this soccer match. with the ball going hither and yon, was pretty bizarre sight. Had quite a few roofing companies working in our villages, never saw anything like this ! Have seen some getting a short nap under a big oak, sharing food, checking cell phones, etc. but this is a first !

Our neighbor had his roof replaced and they were up there working after it got dark. Not sure what they were doing but that would concern me that the job was may not have been finished properly. Most roofs they can do in one day but it’s a push to do it when it gets dark early.

You mean “football” right? Lol! Having had a daughter who was a soccer junkie I would have enjoyed the sight. My daughter kicked around a soccer ball all of her free time and played on 3 leagues. I miss going to her games and tournaments in places like Quantico VA every Memorial Day weekend and as far away as Ottawa Canada. Those were really fun times and the families became my social life. I miss it.

Wow . . . These guys Work hard and I guess that they Play hard too. You'd think that they'd want to rest when they get a break . . . So, you have to admire their surplus of energy.

Considering that you paid around a $5000 premium to get a Batterbee roof, it is only fitting that they left a litter-free site.

Oh my, my, it must be sooooo difficult to post from one’s fainting couch while clutching smelling salts in one hand.

I find it particularly unfortunate that the name of the company was included here. I hope that does not result in hard workers getting a reprimand.

Sometimes roofers get ahead of themselves on a jobsite, and need to kill time
before the shingles arrive.
They are all hard workers

Don’t play in the street!

Maybe they were trying to warm up? Some of the days and especially the nights have been cold here in the Villages.

I'd be pretty upset if they were kicking a soccer ball against my house. Even if it was unintentional, it was still careless and I'd be upset. Was your siding dented? How many cars parked outside did they dent? And then you say they were laughing? Should have called their company and raised hell.

Better than drinking and playing loud music as I had a crew doing a job for me a few years ago. Not cool…

asianthree 12-14-2024 02:52 AM

So could they have been waiting for more product, an inspection, or lunch break. Wouldn’t it been easier just to walk down the street and ask? Doesn’t seem strange the owners of the house or their immediate neighbors didn’t chime in about the footballers playing in the street.

Then again doesn’t everyone remember as a KID the OLD GUY that lived on your block complaining

“Those Kids are playing in the streets again. Call the cops”:1rotfl:

I just came home from a Lifestyle Tour of The Villages. I didn't see one piece of litter anywhere the entire time I was there. Amazing.
