You might be interested to know
After all the hoopla, many of our most outspoken TOTV political posters have hightailed it out of town.
I guess the voice of reason won out. |

Being one who does not believe in trying to interpret
another's oblique statement, what is the message being conveyed?

Some of us have decided to get control of our blood pressure. I will admit my will power has nearly failed me several times but as of yet I have not opted in.

I thought we had a pretty good group going in there. We had some fairly spirited debates with a pretty diverse set of opinions. It was fun and I enjoyed it, even with the folks I disagreed. What fun would the world be if we all thought the exact same thing right?
So as a courtesy to the rest of the members who were not interested in seeing the "spirited" political posts and titles constantly mixed in with the rest of the new and recent discussions, we decided to make the political board a membership board. Two quick clicks of the mouse and you were back in like nothing ever happened. No big deal really. And for that I hear some of the regulars took their toys and went home in a huff. Dare I say... wow.

I wouldn't say anyone took their toys and went home in a huff except whoever the few were that complained to Tony how they didn't like the way we play. Most of the liberal posters were not happy, not able to stand the heat and stopped posting. I guess their man is the POTIS now so they don't need to debate issues any more. I'm sorry that their so thin skinned that they can't take the heat of the opposition.

I hope that when you get your blood presure under control that you'll sign up. Even though I personally am against most of your ideas I still appreciate the chance to have an opposing point of view. It's not a debate if everyone is on the same side of the platform.

Nah, I don't think it was that. Some of the libs hang in there pretty well and I love them too and it's not just the folks on the left that stopped posting. We got push back the minute I announced it was going to be a membership board. I just don't see the big deal, nothing changed except you had to click your mouse a couple times to see the board. Life as we know it didn't come to an end. The weather in Tennessee today was beautiful. Now that's important!

Yes... I agree this whole forum should be, but I didn't start it here!

It would help if the statements regarding "many of the outslpoken..."
have departed if, using Tony's latest figure of 100 members, state how many.
Just like few is more than two (but how many more?). Many is what number? Specificity, or lack of it, is the real crux for most issues presented, allowing everybody to be right (or left) in their own mind. btk |

I quit posting to the political forum because it quit being interesting or fun. People weren't really saying anything, just adding links to "jounalists" and columnists who agreed with their viewpoints. If you dared to disagree, they just got nasty. No fun, nothing new, nothing worth saying a thing about. It really had nothing to do with the fact that my man won or that I'm a liberal. If it ain't fun or interesting, why bother? I can hear the same tired arguments any evening in the squares and they don't want to hear any counterpoint to their viewpoints there, either.

Numbers do nothing more than add a real perspective/clarity
to a point being made. While you are certainly entitled to your perspective/view, your conclusion or illusion that I have a hang up is incorrect. Numbers do make the difference in interpretation. Generalities usually offer no real perspective and and have a tendency to appeal to emotion only. Seeking clarity or understanding is not a "hang up" or trying to "prove" anything.
Whenever anything I say/state/write, is incorrectly represented, I always obligate myself to set the record straight. It is just that simple!! btk |
