The Villages is such a nice place to live. I do not understand the people who are always looking for a problem.

Seriously, I thought this thread was going to name the retired head of a major hospital in NY, a ranked member of NASA, a well-known name in golf championships etc all people I chat with at my neighborhood pool. If there are any child molesters I guess they haven’t introduced themselves yet.

Boy if you think the registered sex offenders are a problem, just wait til you find out about all the sex offenders who haven't been caught yet.

Here's a clue: most of these sex offenders living in and near the Villages have committed crimes against minor children. Minor children don't live in the Villages, and those sex offenders just don't find you compelling. If you have grandkids, you shouldn't be letting them wander around the Villages unattended, so you should have nothing to worry about.

Of course not, I am concerned of that as well. It's not the happiest home town and there is a lot of bad actors here as well. Just look at some of these posts attacking me for making people aware. There's a lot of bleeding heart people here, let them have all the bad behaved people in their neighborhoods, maybe they will then have a different opinion.

Making people aware of something that happened a month ago isn't "just making people aware." It's not "just" anything. It's intentionally goading people. It's creating conflict "just" so you can cry foul. Or maybe you "simply" want an excuse to call people who have lives outside your angry world "bleeding heart people."

I'm "merely" pointing out to you that your "just/only/merely/simply/only" is obviously not very effective. If it were, everyone would agree with you.

Can’t Rehabilitate a sex offender! Pretending it’s not a problem is the Problem

we need open records and registry on ALL FELONS or NO FELONS.
No reason to single out one felony over the other.
History shows us that those in the name, blame game have made
millions off this one crime - like John Walsh now worth over a
hundred million.

There are probably several. They have served their time. Let them live in peace.

Some have and some do deserve the break. Others may not. I lived nextdoor to one rso for a while who was a very nice man. He did his time for being with a girl who said she was 20 when she wasn't and all hell broke loose on him. He did his time and has his life long scarlet letter now. He's was a great neighbor.

There are a lot of rso who are not nice. Lived around the corner from one here in T V who tried to slowly back me into a comprimising position as I was washing my car one day as a newbie to T V. I recognized what he was doing and quickly moved away. From that moment on my guard was up. I did not harass him but I did not interact with him. One cannot assume that age of victim disqualifies a victim, even in T V.

Agree with don't go on a war path toward a neighbor who has done their time and has a scarlet letter now. EVERYONE has a story and testimony to tell. There are no perfect people - hence the concept of grace. Respect is a two way street.

FL, thank God, has a judicial process that is still in use. Retired people have plenty of time to be vigilant and observant to protect the vulnerable. That person wearing a scarlet letter could just be the person to "see something and say something" that FL law makers are encouraging. Needless to say, I for one do like a locked door at night... even here in T V.

I knew a guy convicted of statutory rape when he was in a consensual relationship with a girl that was 16. He was 18. He is labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life. When he moves anywhere he had to register. His neighbors had no idea he wasn't a child rapist.

Here's the link. You can search by name, or neighborhood. You can also sign up for notifications. There will be a detailed file for each offender.

The system is in place for good reasons, to protect the public and inform citizens.

Unproven claims

First, I never open links from unknown sources. Probably with 100K plus people there are many with checkered pasts. What’s your point?

I get an alert from my ID theft service every time one registers. With so few children and schools a retirement community is a magnet for those trying to comply with restrictions on this location, I guess.
