Default Your Help Needed to Catch Gate Crashers

This is from the districtgov.org site.

The Amenity Authority Committee implemented the Gate Camera Pilot Program and identified two locations for the installation of new cameras: the Del Mar and Chatham Gates. While these are the only two gates that the pilot project encompasses at this time, other gate locations are being reviewed for installation of the new cameras. The cameras are equipped with improved technology that captures video and still images with exceptional clarity. The District can better identify and pursue individuals who damage gates with their motor vehicles by reviewing the images of license plates. Since golf carts do not have identifying license plates, the District is asking for your assistance by reviewing the videos of golf cart operators damaging gate arms. If you are the individual responsible for damaging the gate arm or know the individual, please contact District Administration at 751-3939.

Here are the latest still images.

Really? How much is this costing us. I would be all for it except the last time I looked Florida does require front license plates, so if all they are getting is the front then?? And most/not all of the cars down here, do have Florida plates. As for the golf carts, if they did not do the right thing then and there, doubt they will do it later. They should go back to gate that a golf cart can get by. Seems to me that the new gate system was talked about last year and how we were going to voluntarily go along with the new standard. Another poorly thought out thing that costs us money. And then we are paying someone to track these people down. Put a gate in that does not give and people will not hit it. Ok I am done, bring it on

New federal standards dictate that any gate must stop ALL traffic. We do not have the option of voluntarily going along.

What he said.

The same fund for the cameras as the repair of the gates.

It'll be alright.

Well I guess I would be pleased about this recent development if the gates materially meant something but they don't. so what we seem to have here is a plan to catch residents squeezing through a gate that really serves no purpose without the hassle of using their gate pass, a pass that has little value also. Now I did it and The Village euphorians will be posting that if I don't like it well then get out of Dodge.

Once the first cart passes the gate, they should stop and wait for the gate/arm/wood stick to close to avoid piggybacking.

They are moving images. No stills. It is the carts that rush through after the carts which have stopped that break the gate arms.

They go by so fast that it is hard to get a good look.

The Government really did that? What a surprise! But we don't have anything important to do? I do think the gates are a "small" deterrent in keeping out the would be criminal element. Remember I said small---well, maybe very small. Personally, I have no problem with the camera's----if, and when, there is a criminal problem there is a chance that something could be caught on camera that might help.

What is amazing is that those who caused the gate to fall off, DID NOT seem to go back to the gate house and report what happened. Are they children ? Adults should take responsibility for the damage they've caused. They won't go to Villages jail, they just need to pay for the damage they caused.

A gate attendent who sometimes comes to a place I frequent said that the Villages charges $300 per broken gate arm. My guess is that they want the $600 coming from the two golf cart drivers who broke these gate arms at the Del Mar Gate.

I am not youtube expert, but a couple of tricks. After you start the video, you can go full screen by clicking the 'square box' on the right side of the video control bar located at bottom of video.

You can also pause by clicking on the || on the bottom left. After you hit pause you can step back or forward by clicking left and right arrows on your keyboard.

Watch the guy in the second video duck thinking that will help him sneak under....

You can pause the video. The Delmar gate crasher was funny, it looks like he actually ducked.

The camera's are to identify those that damage gates.
