Anyone notice that #9...whoever was driving the Entrypoint by Perry's truck might be helpful to talk to. I'm glad down here carts don't go through the gates but around. Although our gate has been taken off several times here in Sanibel I can guess who the culprits...especially when I watched to cement trucks go through together without stopping.

I think the gates are useful, but should allow the passing of golf carts, similar to the one at Bellvedere and 466, by the high school. I am also in favor of cameras at all points of entry and gates, but more for our security, then gate crashers. Most of the damage seems to be done by golf carts, shorten the gates to allow carts to squeeze by, but cars should stop for the safe passing of golf carts trying to cross the road.

I am fine with trying to find people who damage the gates pay for them. But one thing that is missing from all these posts is who pays vehicle owners when the gate prematurely comes down on the vehicle? In the 11 years I have been a Villager, this has happened twice to me. One time it left a scratch on the roof of my car and the 2nd time, it took off the rear mounted antenna. I was not tail-gating and used the gate pass... the gate went up and came right back down again as I was entering the gate. I never reported this because it would have been my word against theirs. But cameras would have been useful to prove instances such as these.

When how the gates work in our home town is a topic at all, ya gots to admit, We is livin large in de villages.
:a040: And, LOL, did you take note that the first video was a cart driven by a guy in a wife beater tea shirt. That set the tone for me. |
Gates.
People never cease to amaze me, delight me, surprise me, annoy me and mistify me.
Why is it that gates have never given me one degree of rise to my blood pressure? I don't care if "they" track me, I am not doin' anything wrong. I don't think that gates keep any bad people out, but they slow some people down. Others need to be tethered to something. |
