Default Camera's in the squares

OK, Here goes... a little gripe.

I am still in Maine waiting to come down for good (2 years 2 months and 25 days) and I check out the cameras in the squares to see what is happening. By the way it is a great way to say Hi to someone back north or west or wherever. But for the last 2 weeks the camera in Sumter has been having "technical difficulties" ..... come on. I have written to info@thevillages but nothing has happened. Any thoughts on who I should talk to?

Hi Becky,

You have to go on to the villages site http://thevillages.com then click on the icon at the top called entertainment. Once the widow opens look on the left side. There are some billboards that say "Lake Sumter Landing Market Square" then "Spanish Springs Town Square'. Click on the Spanish Springs one and a window will open up. You have to download an activeX control. Once you do this you will be rewarded with a picture of the town square. And guess what..... it is live. Well almost live, it has a little bit of time lapse but you can see the people walking and also cars and carts going around the square. You can also zoom in so if you want you can go down to the square and face the camera and call the kids and say hi to them. We were down in April and had a great conversation with one of our kids back here in Maine.

If you need any help feel free to ask. The camera in Spanish Springs is on the building where the Italian restaurant is (or used to be). The one in Sumter is on the building across the street from the big clock between both of the refreshment huts.

Maybe you can call someone and ask them when they are going to get the camera in Sumter Landing fixed....
By the way a lot of people don't know about these cameras.
Have fun

Larry

Larry... I live for those camera's. Haven't looked for a while..... I've been watching off and on for about 2 years. If it's down, it usually dosn't take them long to get it up and running.

It has been down over 2 weeks now. I check it every day. I have even sent them an email to tell them to turn the camera when it shows a boring scene. One time they had it facing away from the square toward 441 and I wrote and asked them to turn it around, the did.

But the cam in Sumter has been having "technical difficulties" for over 2 weeks...
