Several Putt putt courses, movie theater in lake Sumter, take him on an air boat ride to see gators, lake Sumter boat ride, ice cream at lake Sumter, swimming in family pools, nature walk at Fenny, play video games in some recreation center, ping pong, corn hole, splash pads in Wildwood. Walk through Venician Gardens in Leesburg ( bring bird food). Very nice.

Google fun at home STEM activities for 7 year old. You absolutely have to take him to the First Responders Mini Putt.
It’s totally free and you can even get loaner putter and balls at the desk.
Afterwards you can take him in to view the beautiful Rec Centre that is a tribute to our first responders and volunteers and the fallen from 911.
It’s fun but educational as well.
I’m serious it’s a must visit!
Also if your up for a day trip if he’s into it, a trip to visit and your Daytona 500 will make his life.

The big hit with my young guests has been riding over 466 on the golf cart bridge. First thing they want to do when they get here.

Two of my grandkids (ages 6 & 8) were just here a couple of weeks ago. All the suggestions in this thread are good but do not feel you need to plan a field trip for every day. My two grands wanted to go swimming EVERY DAY. There were usually other kids at every pool we went and they all played so well together. Riding in the golf cart and searching for alligators were next on their list. Make a Nature Hunt list with items they can search for all week long ( alligators, sandhill cranes, turtles, yellow golf cart, people dancing, house with purple door etc). We did go to the zoo (ZooTampa) which they enjoyed but mostly they wanted to do things here. For rainy days, several of the rec centers have tabletop video games (ex Okahumpka and Franklin). They also played shuffleboard, bocce and corn toss. We played hours of Sorry and War, started a puzzle (no time to finish). Go to Dollar Tree and stock up on kid friendly craft supplies. The best thing is do activities with them.

Fun spot is a good amusement park less crowded and cheaper then the big 3. Homasasa state park has a small zoo. The orlando science museum is a little pricey, but air conditioned and great for kids.
