Ellen Cronin...see her credentials especially to practice before the IRS. She is organized, professional and timely and like the way she puts the whole tax return documents for me.
She is more expensive though than your normal H&R Block type tax return providers.

If you don’t have a complicated return it’s overkill and unnecessarily costly. I have all those credentials and more.

Tax software is comprehensive and sold for different levels of complexity. It’s rules based. Your preparer is going to enter the information into software. Why not try yourself? Many returns will be similar to the prior return but for the numbers. TurboTax will generate a two year comparison. Reconcile the two years. Been using it since the 90s with no issue

People need to stop fearing the IRS. Amended returns exist for any issues. It is not a big deal
