Default Appliance question

The mark up on appliances seems very high to me. Did anyone take the standard package and upgrade afterwards? When I ask, i’m Told they are built in appliances so I might have to pay to make sure cabinets fit and have other issues if I do that. I am thinking if I replace the standard appliances with appliances of the same size, why wouldn’t this work? I know nothing about this so would appreciate any opinions.

When our fridge went on the blink, I wanted a certain model. Would not fit in space with out removing cabinets and part of counter. So ended up buying a fridge that fit instead of what we wanted

Appliances are pretty much standard. Especially for lower cabinetry. Fridges can be a problem with retro fit as you are usually limited with space between cabinets or cabinet to wall. I would ask for a plan of the kitchen and go to an appliance dealer.

The appliances are standard sizes so the range is 30" and any 30" range will fit. The refrigerator opening is variable from 33" to 39" any refrigerator will fit the 39" space. We have a very large refrigerator 32 cubic feet and have 3" of space after it is in. The microwave opening is also a standard 30" so any of the microwaves will fit the space.

When we had our house built 3 years ago, we asked them to leave out the refrigerator and the stove/oven. After we moved in, we bought a refrigerator, oven, washer, dryer, and new TV at Best Buy.

Everything fit into the spaces they had left with no problem.

Many people leave the appliances out to keep the cost down and then buy their own and have them delivered. We bought a new house that was build so it cam with Whirlpool appliance in the kitchen and laundry room. We would have ordered Whirlpool is there were no appliances but it is nice to have them in the house, ready to go, especially the washer and dryer.
