Whew!! Vermillion would be a nice place to be from.....FAR from in the wintertime!! :) Too cold and too much snow up there on the lake!

I'd say TV should work out just fine for ya!!

Buttonwood won't be within immediate walking distance of shopping, current or future. But there's going to be a bunch of stuff just a short golf cart ride away!!

A new smaller shopping area is coming on 466A -- next to the new County building. It will have a Sweetbay + other stores. Down Buena Vista, right on 466A to the next intersection (CR 462/135).

My bad - I stand corrected. Wonder if it'll be golf cart accessible?

Seems like there might be some other commercial development coming up along 466A west of Buena Vista as well. Time will tell!

My guess is yes -- you will cross 466A in the tunnel east of Buena Vista, then go down the cart trail to the first tunnel under the new part of Buena Vista and go west from there (none of this is open to carts yet but you can see what's happening if you travel down there by car or bike.).

Thanks!! We'll be down there for a while next month - we'll check it out!!

Took everyones advice and will close on a home in Buttonwood on December 14. We can't wait.

I've read that golf carts will be able to get to the new county bldg, the one with the gold dome in about a year, so the other commercial developments will be accessable as well.

After Octobers fiasco with Citizen's and their inability to close on a loan I returned to TV and bought a new Cottage home on Buttonwood Run...I have been assured that this time there will be no problems...I'm holding my breath but do not anticipate any issues this time...Can't wait to get to Buttonwood...:a040:

Welcome to The Villages

Congrats on closing on your new home. You will certainly enjoy living here.

Personally, I chose to buy a re-sale home when I bought a year ago. It is a golf front home on the Glenview Fox Run course. House was built in 2002 and has mature landscaping and everything you could want - most of which is not included as standard in new houses - such as built-ins, pull-out cabinets, and other upgrades. There is no construction going on around us. PLUS the bond is almost all paid off!!

I was able to negotiate with the seller for a better price and I do not believe the new homes are negotiable.

I think new buyers should have a Villages Realtor as well as an outside Realtor so they can see all the homes - both new and re-sale - and both those listed with Villages Realty and outside Realtors.

hi russ... we'll be neighbors in buttonwood as well... did your pullout cabinets come standard, or were they an upgrade you requested???

At least with the cabinets I chose. Maybe my selection was an upgraded choice? It's all a blur at this point but I know I have them.

Looking Forward to Spring

We'll start our home in April. You'll easily know where our home will be..... I think it is the only vacant lot on Harding Path. :a040:

dwbevan 12-08-2010 08:25 PM

We will be there through April, so we will be watching your house grow. Hopefully, we will meet. Congratulations.

Congrats on your purchase! My wife and will be arriving from Boston tomorrow. In addition to viewing some pre-owned properties, we are scheduled to look at new homes in Buttonwood. Hopefully, we'll find our "dream" home.

Closed on December 3

We closed on our Dorst Lane Gardenia in Buttonwood on December 3 and spent the next several days arranging to get some furniture and meet with all those who show you all about your new home. Fortunately, my wife got to spend some time at the Buttonwood pool (Saturday and Sunday last week were warm and pleasant).

I spent more time in furniture stores this week than the rest of my 67 years combined. We managed to purchase a bed (frame, boxspring and mattress), a couch and 4 bar stools. Our major applicance purchase was a radio.

Unfortunately we had to return to Connecticut yesterday and won't be back for a while.

natickdan, we'd love to have more neighbors on the south side of Buttonwood Run. If you're a Bosox and Pats fan, you'd be more than welcome even if you attended BC.

There is one available Gardenia (new) on Kincord Court in Buttonwood. On the golf course. Great neighbors.

Congrats: our home is being built on Allure Loop and scheduled to close January 19th. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

murfice1 12-10-2010 01:26 PM

I'll be in town from the 12th on. I will take a walk across the street and say hello.

oceangirl 12-10-2010 06:05 PM

Hi Tom do you know if they have started building any homes on Bachman Path?

Tom Hannon 12-10-2010 06:21 PM

I'm not sure but at the pace they build these homes, most likely they have. I know the street name so...if theres a street there are houses.

Are you on the cul de sac? We are closer to the middle on the south side of Dorst with no immediate neighbors.

Hope to meet you when we return in February.

We are not on the cul de sac. There are 2 empty (sold) lots on the right of us and 3 houses left. I don't know if we are on the north or south side of Dorst.

We will be down over New Years and again in the beginning of March. We are sure to meet each other at some point and I look forward to it. :D

I'm an avid Sox, Pats and Celtics fan and I'm looking forward to watching them play from TV. I also plan on attending a few Red Sox spring training games. This is something I've wanted to do since I was a young boy.

If you are a Pats fan, plan on getting DirecTV or Comcast (I think) so you can watch them at home. With three NFL teams in Florida it is a rare day we get to see the Pats unless they are on Sunday/Monday night football or playing a Florida team. I am not sure about Comcast. Will be switching to DirecTV once our contract period expires with DishTV.
