I thought the ATMs were no longer owned by Citizen's. At least, now they charge a fee if you're out of network. In 2012 when we first started using them, they didn't.

Both my online banks (Chase and Ally) refund the ATM fees from any bank or ATM up to a certain number of times--more times than I would ever use in a month.

The greatest thing about Citizens is...... when you call, a human being picks up.... no Press 1 for English, 3 for your mother, etc. I have accounts at WF, Chase and Citizens and actually never go inside a bank. Citizens has the drive thru's which are very very convenient (same with WF and Chase) but when I had a problem with my checking account, Citizens had a live person answer the phone at around 3pm on a Friday. Whew!!!

BTW -- they aren't the only bank with popcorn, a human who answers the phone, drive thrus,
and knowledgeable and friendly tellers, managers, etc.

The Mor$e family, et al, will do just fine without my business!

You make it sound like Citizens is the greatest (without saying exactly that) and there is no need to go with another bank.

To me it makes more sense to go with a bank that is everywhere. Wells Fargo and Chase qualify for that since they are all over the U.S.

Other than that, I left Citizens to go with a smaller successful bank -- CBC -- that has excellent service and was not jammed all the time. Community Bank and BB & T are also excellent banks.

The choices are many in the area and the above aren't the only banks around. Citizens isn't the only game in town.

Yes but Wells Fargo will add unwanted insurance for you without your knowlege. Completely unethical company. Citizens is my choice.

What more do you want in a local bank? Use Chase or BOA if you want for travel - but for my local needs, wants, and convenience, I love Citizens.
Citizens online DOES NOT allow transfers OUT of your account. For me, that was a deal killer. Also, they don't tell you that when you open the account. The reason they gave me was this, "we are a hometown bank". Whatever that means.

"Unwanted insurance" for what?

I have an account there and there is no insurance of any kind on my monthly account.

So what are you talking about?

I really never thought about it, but of course they would.

True, Alliant Credit Union offers 1.11% for their savings with no catches. Even a hundred bucks its 1.11%. Hey, even their checking is .65%. a 10.00 donation to a charity qualifies you for membership. Its not much interest but it beats zero! I would set up something there and EFT it to Citizens when you need cash.

Been there 40 years and never paid for insurance.

You're just grabbing onto a news article. Very ethical bank.
