I am so sad to hear this happened. I wish a speedy and full recovery for the injured people.

A sad reminder for all, (especially wannabees and newbies), to be careful while operating a golf cart in TV.

It obviously was NOT a street legal cart since both people were thrown out of the cart. A street legal requires seat belts and to be worn. So, this was totally wrong. Being on a public road (Buena Vista) not in a street legal cart as well as turning the wrong way in a traffic circle.

Yes, I do wish the people a full recovery.

Cool

Not sure what exploring anyone would be doing on Buena Vista, south of 466A. There isn't anything down there. Not sure that part is blocked to the cart path, since traffic is using BV to get to 44. Morse Blvd cart trail is blocked and prevents carts from going down to the new Sanibel addition.

One evening the blockade, on Morse, was open, so the wife and I took a drive down to the first roundabout, where the guard came and made us exit our cart. We were then handcuffed and strip searched, before they released us.

We've been driving down there every night now to see if we can get in again....

Doesn't mean they were wearing them.

My heart goes out for everyone concerned. I think about seat belts for our cart but somehow never get around to it. Very sad.

That sounds terrible and we are so sorry to hear about this accident. The one thing we noticed while at The Villages was the number of young kids who were allowed to drive the golf carts. Some definitely were not 14 years old (which is also too young) as we were told the age limit is. The golf cars aren't toys. We were also surprised at all the roundabouts, knowing that the older we get the easier we become confused.

memason: thanks for the laughs.

The only reason I ask about how a cart would be on BV south of 466A is you have to travel on BV from back by Bailey Trail. You cannot get around the barricade on BV from the cart path on 466A like you can at Morse and 466A.

Well.... there is one other way, but I thought only Caly and I knew of and used that one

Going in the wrong direction is not limited to golf cart traffic. A few times at night I've had cars on BV traveling in the wrong direction and coming head on to me. One wonders what the heck they could be thinking. Nothing more scary than looking down the line and be starring at a pair of headlights that you shouldn't be seeing in the first place if they were on the correct side of the street. And there are still some illegal golf carts riding up and down Morse and BV. Driving around here can be scary at times.
