First Preview Visit, First Post
We are doing it. My wife and I scheduled a Preview Visit starting August 22, 2009. In addition, I am posting for the first time after a year of watching, (lurking) listening and learning from you all. I have really enjoyed your
candor, humor and support for each other. We are retired from Indiana and have been contemplating what is next for us? Warmer weather and being active are certainly attractions for us. We have wintered for a couple of months each year alternating between Florida and Arizona. Arizona is to far from grandchildren if we were to move. We plan on trying to see established villages as well as the new ones. We have been wishy-washy about what to, where to live in retirement. This will be the start for us in making this decision. Wish us well. Thanks for this TOYV site. Frank |

Chances are you will love it and be pleasantly surprised...especially if you want warm weather and lots of ways to remain active!
We just recently spent six days there and really liked what we saw. We'll be going back to do a Lifestyle Preview visit fairly soon I am sure. Good luck!

Welcome! You'll be here for the train show, and I think the cruise-in is also that weekend (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong).
Be prepared... This won't be like any other "retirement community" you've ever visited!

You are in for a pleasant surprise.
We came up last Saturday for just the weekend, and although I liked what I saw on the web, it is so---- much better in person. The whole area is clean and neat, people are running around in their golf carts, laughing and having a good time and everyone you meet is very friendly. Even though it is a large place, you felt very much like you were in a small town. Saturday night we spent wandering in Sumter Market Square, checking out shops, looking at golf cart prices and getting the complete low down on the difference in types and upkeep, and having a lovely dinner at the Japanese Steak House with some new "villagers". We didn't get to spend as much time looking at houses, as we would like, but we will when we come up for Thanksgiving on a 4-day preview. I just don't know who I can possibly wait till my husband retires in August of 2012!! (I'm earlier in January, but he would miss me!!)
We toured the woodworking shop (my husband's dream), and were so very impressed. You will like it here. I'm so tired, already, of being pushed out of the way because I'm a senior, and therefore the younger generation thinks I don't count, and that they should always go first. I got the decided impression that does not happen in the Villages. Richard and Lee |

I can only repeat what others have said --My wife and I visited in Mid July ..
I had to drag my wife there ..we are from NY and she said she would never to be able to put up with the heat ...From the time we arrived we were amazed at what we experienced ...its hard to explain --its true you need to live it .....needless to say by the end of our 4 day LS visit ---I had to drag my wife home ----she was saying What heat ?? We will visit again in Jan. to see what the winter brings in this beautiful place ...We will be buying shortly after the visit if all goes well .... good luck |

Buying a house in TV is the best "impulse" decision we ever made.

Good luck with the preview. I have visited twice now on preview packages and I've yet to find anything I don't like about TV. Now, we're just working our last couple years until we can make the move... Make sure you rent a golf cart and get the full impact of a golf cart community....
Enjoy |

There are several people that we know here from Noblesville, IN. My bride of 4 years lived in Noblesville for 30 years and knows several people who have places here and all love it. There are many people here from central Indiana. I have a friend from Anderson, IN who is closing on his home in Anderson on Friday and is leaving after closing to come here and purchase his new home in The Villages. Hope you enjoy our town.

Loved the Villages
My husband and I visted the Villages last year. We were there for 4 hours. I fell in love with it. We want to come back in Dec. to take a second look around. I am hoping to retire in two years.... Is there anthing you do not like..... I am 53 and my husband is 61. We want to be active and we love meeting new people. Please let us know as much as you can re: the Villiages...
