If the homes we're any closer they'd be 2 stories. Part of the hazards of owning lots whose free space could easily be measured in square inches.

suggestions for singing neighbor
Quote:
2) record him then post on facebook to make him famous 3) point your speakers his way when he sings and play your music 4) ask him to stop - but nicely 5) have him sing on jamulus with headphones on the internet |

I’m sad to know that the singer feels badly. Aren’t there a few Village clubs for folks who enjoy singing? Some guys really enjoy barbershop quartets so maybe he would enjoy something like that if someone suggested it to him. |

Help with a singing (not very well) neighbor
I would take that singing any day over what we have been dealing with in LaBelle South. The neighbors behind us have made a habit of taking their loud arguments outside and in their lanai for all the nearby neighbors to hear. It must be catching on because we were even treated to a screaming match (complete with profanities) the neighbors beside them had outside a while ago. I wish people would be mindful of how close our houses are. This has definitely put a damper on enjoying my new home and recent retirement life-style.

Some people with tin ears can tell if someone is off key. When my uncle was a young man he hired a gypsy band to serenade his fiancée. He asked my dad and a friend to join him in singing. So the band is playing and they are all singing. My dad stops singing because my uncle is really off key. Then the friend also stops singing. My uncle keeps singing by himself. A few verses later my uncle stops and asks, “Who is singing so terrible?”
A serenade is usually rewarded with a rose thrown from the balcony. It wasn’t a rose that was thrown at them that night. |
I'm having a tough time deciding which party is the bad neighbor. I appreciate annoying but I also appreciate my home is my castle. I tend to side with sing if you want to - you paid for it but you also need to observe quiet hours. There are many areas in TV that you have no control of noise level outside of quiet hours. I live on a championship golf course. The maintenance crews start at 5:00 AM - that's 3 hours before quiet hours start. It goes until 3:00 PM. Oh well I knew what I was buying into and by the way well worth it not to have kissing lanai's and a glorious view without looking into a neighbors yard.

Everything was going well, and really nice....until here. Please ignore

Turn down the music
[QUOTE=maltieri;1786447]We're new to Marsh Bend and have a neighbor who likes to sing. He heads out to his lanai at random hours (daylight luckily) and just starts belting out tunes. We wouldn't mind so much but unfortunately he's not on key very often and there's not even any background music (aka karaoke). Not trying to be mean but we'd like to enjoy our lanai without the 'serenade'. Appreciate others thoughts on how to manage this one ![/QUOTE
I think I would Mention you enjoy reading in your Lanai and would appreciate it if he could turn the CD down a little. This should make him smile and get the message |
Healthy Boundaries
Quote:
Keep in mind, “Some” neighbors social skills are as a mature as middle schoolers. It’s as if they never left junior high, with their cliques, cold shoulder exclusions, gossiping and being downright nosy and showing false concerns, only to have something to gossip about. Get to know your neighbors to establish healthy boundaries. We all have different personalities, socializing styles and culture backgrounds. Let’s embrace our differences and celebrate are similarities. |
