Does the recent approval of high speed train service increase the train frequency through wildwood.

I support train service. Having lived in Chicago many years I was used to the convenience of train service. Also, when I was in Europe, really appreciated train service. I think it would be a great thing to get on a train and go where I wanted.

Check the graphic - the route doesn't go anywhere near Wildwood.

Believe "Sun Rail" will be a commuter rail service from the vicinity of Deland south to Orlando metro area. The increase in rail traffic will be from CSX freight rerouted through Wildwood from the proposed commuter rail line. The high speed Miami - Orlando - Tampa pax service was turned down several years ago (by the florida voters) and hasn't reappeared.

Am a fan of rail service and would like to see it's return to our area. We did have Amtrak service in Wildwood until 3 years ago. Now it is an Amtrak bus connection to Jacksonville or Lakeland.

Default more trains(freight)

will be coming through Wildwood in about two years. Currently they are building two new overpasses, one on Hwy 301 and the other on Hwy 44. The are to completed in the summer of 2011.

You are correct, from what I also read; the Rte. 44 overpass eliminates an at grade crossing whereas the 301 overpass widens a currently 2 lane overpass to a 4 lane overpass, part of the 4 lane construction of rte 301 from Wildwood north. All of this (rail infrastructure) part of the CSX/State of Florida agreement to buy CSX tracks for commuter rail to the east and move freight to the west after certain improvements are made.

That should make things quieter. Regulations call for an engineer to sound the horn when approaching grade crossings. With an overpass, you won't "hear the whistle blowing".
