Default Forget Progressive

Progressive just increased rate from $916 to $1883 for 2023, having no claims nor
coverage changes. Basically talked with agent, they said "too bad, so sad".
Thus, will cancel renewal with them.
So far best quote was from State Farm, no reply yet from Farmers.

The renewals are legally due to be sent to you 60 days from renewal date. Watch for some of the outfits to claim they sent it to you and its buried in your spam folder !!
Another question ? With premiums doubling -- are agents commissions staying the same percentage and are agents realizing the windfall ?

"Thus, will cancel renewal with them."

Immediately stop the direct withdrawal of funds. The insurance outfits will take their $$$ two months in advance. Then when you have a loss, you wait much more than two months for any dough !

Default Try AAA

I had received "roof warnings" from Cabrillo Coastal (originally got through The Villages Insurance - not sure they really look out for us) so I did a search. Could not get companies to quote due to age of roof - 12 years. I tried AAA (seen ads on TV and I'm a long time member) and they wrote me a policy. I switched my auto and umbrella policy to them too and saved some money. I pay by the year. I had rook inspected and had wind damage. AAA replaced it AND gave me a refund on the yearly premium I'd paid.

Prepping my late mother-in-law’s home in Lakeland for sale. Realtor claims since roof is 16 years old, insurance won’t write a policy for a new owner so we will need to replace it. She said getting insurance is a challenge. Called my State Farm agent to see if this is true. Was told they wouldn’t insure the house even with a new roof since it is 30 years old. They won’t write policies for homes built before 2002. Estimate for new roof is $13,500 from four different companies. Frustrating to say the least.

Our home built 1999, first insur agency, the villages, rate increase, threatened no insurance unless new roof, (Spanish tile), not doing that on a roof that is 80 year roof, went with kin., $200 less same coverage, and then, here is the "Good" part, insurance doubles, next go with Allstate (Security first) in Wildwood (Ella), $400 less, I guess this will be my annual job shopping for homeowners insurance, i figure if the rates keep going down every year, they are going to owe me, lol, giggle, snort.

Just received my renewal from Progressive for $1836. Last year it was $1026. My home is ranch style with about 1450 square feet.
I would appreciate it if you would share your information regarding a home insurance company.
Thank you.

Can anyone advise the difference between the catastrophic collapse and sinkhole coverage? Agents are telling me I don’t need the sinkhole coverage since I will have the catastrophic collapse. Sounds sketchy since they are two separate lines on my coverage statement.

Anyone else go with AAA? We just got a reasonable quote bundling home and auto. Would save us 1500 over State Farm for the same coverage.....

All policies in Florida must have the catastrophic ground collapse coverage. It only pays when your house is deemed to be uninhabitable and condemned by the local Government. Sinkhole coverage is optional and will cover sinkhole damage to your house even if it is not condemned. Some insurance companies will not offer sinkhole coverage for all houses. The agents you have been talking with are not telling you the truth.
