It's called 'fencing.'

Here is but one...of hundreds (thousands?) of different designs.

TV now owns the land on both sides of the turnpike where this bridge is located. It would make good business sense to first try to utilize that bridge if it were feasible.

Here is a link to the bridge, zoom out to see where it is located.

I agree with the 441 cart bridge not being an issue. As I understand it and I could be wrong we are talking about a bridge to carry cars, trucks, golf carts and people and the volume of traffic over a turnpike bridge would be greater by far so the question still stands. I'm asking what kind of things the professionals you listed would use to design the bridge successfully & safely.

Your not a friend. It is a roadway not a walkway as your picture shows. Show one of a 2 or 4 lane bridge for cars and trucks with golf cart lanes and a walkway for people. Read the Question. Google may help you.

You're.

The width of the bridge in my photo...is very close to the existing Bailey Rd. bridge (which is what is being discussed, see post #58).

And anyway, the width of ANY bridge has nothing to do with the viability....of installing a similar fence to it.

Exactly.

There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of examples of different types of fencing, for pedestrian, bicycle AND even highway bridges...by just using Google.

Putting side fences on the Bailey Rd. bridge would be so simple...as to be inconsequential in making it "safe."

Here is a better photo of the Bailey Rd. bridge being discussed.

In fact, it looks to me like it already has a basic fence system on it already.

Thank you for your bridge picture. It is perfect for people. The interesting thing to me is how can a bridge for cars, golf carts, tractor trailers and people be enclosed to keep people from throwing frozen turkeys, rocks, boulders, or or other people from the bridge or bridges proposed to connect Fenney to the existing part of The Villages. If you wish try Googling Jumpers from the Driscoll Bridge in NJ. Simple small bridges can be enclosed. A bridge to do the massive job that I would imagine the bridge to Fenney would be could not be contained as easily. If it has been I couldn't find it on Google.

Only for the vehicle interchange...as I read the article.

I'm still betting that the existing Bailey Rd. bridge will be utilized as a golf cart trail at some point...down the road. (pun intended ).

The just-announced cancellation is for an interchange at the existing overpasses where CR468 crosses over the Turnpike.

These are still in the planning stages:
1. A new overpass over US44 at Buena Vista Blvd for golf carts and pedestrians.

2. Buena Vista will be extended down to CR468. Therefore a new overpass over the Turnpike is being planned. I picture the traffic on this overpass to be the same as the Morse bridge near Lake Sumter Landing - vehicles, golf carts and a sidewalk for pedestrians.

The bridge still appears to be usable multi model access over the turnpike.
