What should we do when we move there in December regarding flood and hurricane insurance?

Your insurance company will answer those questions for you, and make recommendations. We don't have flood insurance, no need. But we do have sink hole insurance. We deal with Sumter Insurance.

We used to live on the coast in Virginia and understand your concerns about flooding and hurricanes! We found that when we were purchasing insurance here, there was no concern for either. Instead, this is the lightening capital of the U.S. and there are also tornadoes here occasionally. (I guess there is something to worry about no matter where you live).

You need to learn about sink holes. There is a lot of information on this forum about insuring your property from damages caused by sink holes. Specifically, the way the policy is written regarding the coverage -- a percentage or deductible. Please do a search on "insurance sink holes" on this forum to learn more.

We used Villages Insurance and had great results.

Of dozens of Village People I asked, I know of only one person who has flood insurance. He admits it is an overkill but he did it because he lives next to a large lake. Sink hole insurance is a must.

We did purchase Flood Insurance but it was not required by the bank --

Was more or less a feel safe situtation on our move. Sinkhole was included in our basic policy --from The villages Insurance store ---

I would call them for any info they are great ---

good luck
