Default Hello, coming from Alaska

Hi Everyone!
I am moving to The Village of Charlotte in November 2012, building a Lily. I will be a full time resident, moved from Alaska. Are there any others out there that have lived in Alaska? I love The Villages, once I visited I knew this was going to be my new home, it was time for me to leave the long, long, winters. Traveling 5,000 miles to get here.

Welcome to TOTV. I'm not from Alaska, but hope your closing and move in good smoothly! Keep reading and posting on TOTV as this forum is full of information about living in TV.

We have visited Alaska and Northwest Territory and the Yukon. We drove there. Have a safe trip and welcome to The Villages! It is definitely warmer here.

Yes, we have a couple of TOTV'ers from Alaska. Two are snowbirds and will be down in a few months, and another woman has moved here permanently. Someday soon, we'll have a meet and greet with them so you can meet them.

I saw someone with Alaskan license plates perusing Gilchrist the other day so there is for sure one person down here.

how lovely to have you in TV and I know you will be most happy with your choice! I just was in your beautiful state this August and was so fortunate to have many days of sunshine and warm weather! Make yourself at home, and enjoy all that TV has to offer! Best wishes and congratulations to you!

I was in your beautiful state in the winter, Anchorage and stopped in Cold Bay a couple times, and I can assure you TV has better weather in the winter.

We flew to Sitka from Seattle at end of May and went on a small boat cruise with 44 people with Alaskan Dream Cruises. We were taken away with the beauty of our 8 day trip and had the opportunity to go into some small communities as the boat was small. I was regretful that I have lived in Oregon, British Columbia and Washington for 35 years and had not spent time exploring Alaska. Now like you we are off to The Villages at the end of the month permanantly. My best advise is take some good pictures of those magnificent mountains as you will not be seeing anything like those in the South, but you will see many other wonderful parts of nature that are not in Alaska! Like palm trees and alligators!

Hi! Welcome to TOTV and TV in general. My wife and I almost built in Charlotte but ended up in Gilchrist instead. I think you'll find that Charlotte will be a wonderful place to live and I know you'll love TV. There's a lot of good info on this site and you'll find no shortage of opinions...lol.

Default What part of Minnesota did you live in?

I saw where one of the places you lived was Minnesota. What part did you live in? I live near Moorhead, MN next to Fargo, ND. Lots of days it was colder in Fargo than Alaska.

You can for sure get rid of all your fall/winter clothes from Alaska. You won't be needing them here.

Welcome to The Villages!

Hi-
I grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota most of my life. I spent the last 7 years in Kenai, Alaska. I sold my home so fast- in 2 weeks, that I am now staying with Mom in Minnesota till the house gets built. I was born in North Dakota till we moved to Minnesota in the 60's.
