Really ? Oh well, just like it's "illegal" to rent out houses for a night or a weekend on AB&B, not have to pay any taxes of any kind for running a motel ? Or like it's illegal to run a golf cart over 19 miles an hour ? Or like there is a "limit" as to how long a "guest" can stay in your home before that "guest" exceeds the legal "rules", just on and on, NOT saying rules are not important to a society, just saying "pick the hill you want to die on" is all, mail boxes probably not the most important consideration contributing to the deterioration of our community ! Just one opinion among many ! If you take a breath and consider the stickers on the mailboxes carefully, do you think the only law enforcement we have here (the local sheriff's office and deputies) have the time to take on mailbox crime with all that goes on here each and every day ? Can't even begin to calculate the theft, break-ins, traffic accidents, shop lifting, deed restrictions ignored, etc. they have to deal with daily.

Reread my post, I didn't say anything about people putting stickers on THEIR personal property car, I said the justifications used this thread make it seem to be acceptable to put stickers on another person's house or car.
Just because it is a pigeon hole mailbox doesn't change the fact that it is someone's property. Why is that such a hard concept to understand?

Well if you see so many stickers on the boxes doesn't that tell you that most people like it , and if they are on. There than I assumed the Post office isn't saying anything about it

As a Brit I love the different way we say garage.
But then again, my wife and I are from two different parts of the UK. You should hear the friendly banter we have about the way you say scone.
Happy to take the Brit gibes - we get worse from the Aussies.

Both of our Daughters were born at RAF Lakenheath. They also went to British Schools. Was fun traveling and listening to them pick up local accents. Cheers, steve

I personally think all of these different stickers are tacky. Makes the place look like a ghetto.

Ouch. Glad we were grandfathered in. To me the stickers add a bit of humanity to an otherwise sterile scene.

Yes I agree but you have to understand that SOME people think in extremes , it’s either black or white- no gray area. Something so innocuous.as applying a harmless sticker to easily identify your mailbox is a mortal sin punishable by being banned from the community. Folks like that just need to get a life. No not golf or mah-jongg or samba - a life.

No idea. I don't know which boxes are assigned to which owners, and I'm not in the habit of watching people put stickers on/taking stickers off their boxes. I've put one on mine, and it's removable. If I forget to take it off when I move, or if I die and am no longer capable of visiting the box, I'm sure the new owner will keep it or peel it off however they see fit.

Topspinmo 03-17-2024 03:29 PM

The other day I when to get mail, when I got at there I forgot my box number (i rarely get mail). So, keeping up with tradition in villages I painted Red Cross on mine. They guy next to me use to have sticker I could identify my box, all sudden it was gone and I was left scratching my head. Now my box sticks out like big goiter….

What you don’t know, is the mailbox sticker police, is a subsidiary of the mattress tag police.

When in Durham, couldn't understand King's English. If you can, more regards your way! Scots are the best! Gotta like their cows! Aussies, make fun of everyone, but they did give us "AC\DC" and "Bee Gees" (thank God that punk rock came along to wipe disco away!). Love driving on the left side of the road too!
