Of course that might mean we have to limit our wine consumption while at the Town Square in the evenings ;-)
I wish this site had those thumps up icons that you can use like on Facebook. I really appreciate all of the advice.

is the reason everyone seems to purchase a home or lot so fast because of hard sale on the part of TV? You know, Florida had that reputation in the old days. I know because I worked for General Development Corp many moons ago and all the top management there eventually spent time in jail for their sales tactics...I think the charges were something like racketeering.
I'm sorry if that sounded bad. But really folks, when you hear others talking about how fantastic it is in TV it almost sounds cult-ish! (lol). "The Stepford Villages" ;-)

JackieandCharlie 09-27-2012 08:52 AM

And we were laughing the other day because everyone talks about the "lifestyle"...it sounds like a swingers colony!! And really, we are not in shape enough for that sort of thing! :1rotfl:

No hard sale at all....quite the contrary. Sales reps will take to see as many homes, new or previously owned, as you need to see with absolutely no pressure to buy. There is no need to pressure sell, the place sells itself. You'll see. When we arrived just to take a look, I was the one who said, "I don't want to live with all the old *****". About an hour later, we got to visit with a sales agent. Been living in TV for 6 years and with no regrets....and there are no old ***** here....:)

It is the not the sales agents. It is known as Village Syndrome. People lose all their sense of logic and are overcome by wonderful thoughts and feelings.

That is actually pretty hilarious! (if not a bit scary)

shcisamax 09-27-2012 09:20 AM

It WOULD be scary except it feels so good.

Sigh... What they say is absolutely true. No hard sell at all. In fact, I had to beg my agent to spend more time with me. She kept telling me to go out and have a good time! I am currently building in Gilchrist and could not be happier with my decision. I knew right away that this was a good fit for me. Some people spend quite a bit of time living and renting before they purchase, others not so much. You will know within a number of days which direction you are headed, but no one will try to push you into anything. When you go to eat, or visit the squares, just introduce yourself, ask questions of people and they will be very willing to give you an honest opinion. Enjoy your visit, and welcome to TV!

You picked up some bad information! Swingers Colony its not.

JackieandCharlie 09-27-2012 02:21 PM

Oh no one actually said it was a swingers colony. We saw a talk show some time back with a panel of swingers talking about their "lifestyle". So when we saw everyone referring to the lifestyle in TV we laughed hysterically! (but we really didn't think that - sorry if I offended anyone on here. My husband and I just have a bizarre sense of humor:a040:)

Lifestyle Visit Review

Hubby and I just returned from LSV; and, we are hooked. Our Sales Rep was fantastic and there was absolutely no pressure. She encouraged us, as others have on this thread, to explore, explore, explore. TV sells itself is an understatement. I, too, thought it was a little too perfect, reading many posts, before our LSV; however, it is all true. It is Disney for Adults. We hope to be Villagers, in 2013.

About the Stepford thing. It may be true, but so far my front has not enlarged.

Hi JackieandCharlie,
Your story opposite of ours. Bob had to work longer so I could get retired. Our problem we
visited TV 11 yrs ago and had this long wait. Feel like the same impatient duo as the 2 of
you after all the waiting. Never made a trip that we didn't love every thing about TV.
Just sick to return home. One more winter to go and we will be in TV. Enjoy your trip.
Keep in touch.
Mar/Bob

Gracie, you always bring a smile to my face! Sometimes even a peal of laughter!

JackieandCharlie 10-03-2012 01:39 PM

So we got home from our TV weekend Monday night. We had a blast. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Anytime we looked the least bit lost or confused someone was right there to our rescue. We had a chance to go out with a sales rep to look at homes even though this was not our lifestyle visit, and we even took a ride on the trolley. Obviously 2 nights and 3 days was not enough time, but we feel like this trip is going to make our lifestyle visit in November much more valuable.

Thank you everyone for all the feedback and advise!

jblum315 10-03-2012 02:13 PM

Aw shucks, you changed the title!

SandB 10-03-2012 02:59 PM

My wife and I were skeptical when we first heard about the Villages. We visited and could not believe it be this good. So, I would recommend talking with as many villagers as you can. People are genuinely happy here! This includes us.

Good luck!

Gracie, I was just one step from choking on a carrot. But it was worth it. :a20:
