Moved here from S. Florida 1 year ago. Had 24 foot truck load and got 3 bids. $1700 was lowest. Seems like 8k is reasonable, considering extra miles and higher costs these days.

See if mover can give you breakdown per pieces on the move. Ours(he was a local annd does not operate out of Fla.) did and you will know what the fixed costs are, especially the time charge for the truck and men to move items to

Make sure that the new house will accomodate old furniture especially if new house is smaller. We had to throw out and/or donate many items.

Remember if you opt to purchase new furniture/items there are still supply problems.
