Tough question. When we decided to take a look at this place, we drove up from my son's home in Sarasota expecting to see a typical retirement community. When we drove along 466 it looked nice, but when we crossed the bridge into Lake Sumter, it was an OMG moment. This place is truly impossible to describe.

So, I would advise you to simply drive around, see the squares, check out the rec centers, and go through the neighborhoods (use a gate that is manned to get in). Talk to people you meet. Ask questions. You should get a feel for the place pretty quickly. After two visits lasting about 3 hours each, we decided to buy.

Rent a golf cart,

and as said in previous post, talk to people you meet everywhere; definately visit the rec centers, especially Colony Sea Breeze & Lake Miona as well as some of the neighborhood centers.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cigar in one hand, scotch in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
