Default Roommate(s) Needed

Roommates Needed I am here in TV and pulling together a home for rent and 1 or 2 roommates. What is the best way to get the word out for roommates? I plan to bring all my funiture with me WHEN I GET THINGS ALL SETTLED.

Any HELP would be greatly appreciate!

A little background on me...Single Woman, a young 70, retired business owner, love to laugh and enjoy life!!!

You are renting a home and then renting rooms to people?

Do the owners know of your plan. Your rental agreement will have only you as the occupant

Why so much negativity about this type of potential housing? People of college age do this ALL the time! Sometimes it doesn't work out well, but mostly I'm quite sure it does. You'd think it'd work even better for mature adults who would enter into the agreement with so much life experience behind them. I applaud the OP for trying it!

I got this email from an intern that needs housing in the months provided... I have sold my villa up by the VA... Would you be interested in helping this student out.... read his message to me... I had nothing but good renters from Interns...

My name is Edward (Ted) Hsieh and I am a friend of Andy Chen, a previous tenant of yours. I am currently in my third year of Optometry school at WesternU and I will be leaving for Rotations in May 2015. My fourth and final rotation site is at The Villages in Florida from February to May 2016.

I am writing to you to inquire about the availability of the property which Andy had rented from you. If you plan on making this property available again for WesternU students, may I please request more information on this property?

Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to hearing from!

Cheers,
Ted ehsieh@westernu.edu

When I was first moved to the DC area, I answered an ad for a roommate in the Washington Post! We both worked for the Federal government and each had our own bedroom and bathroom. It worked out great and we roomed together for about 4 years. By that time, we both saved enough money to put down payments on our own condos.

You seem to forget that a lot of singles (especially women) have a difficult time making it when they retire.

We Have rented a home with another couple for the last four years and it has gone swimmingly. The other couple bought a home last May and we plan to rent from them this year. One caveat however, we have been friends with each other for more than fifty years.

We look at things differently. I would try to steer my children and grandchildren away from this kind of situation.

If they didn't have enough money to live here without sharing the rent, I would tell them that nearby there were other choices that did not require a monthly amenity fee that were less expensive and that they could swing on their own without taking the risk that others would default on the agreement.

Being careful with money commitments to me is always a wiser choice and helps cut down the stress of life. We all have our values and they are all different.

AND about college age kids sharing a lease, Three years ago... Our granddaughter signed the lease and one of the sharers walked out on the commitment...You are never too young or old to learn. Bet she won't forget that anytime soon.
