Default Screens on garages?

Pardon the stupid question but why do people have screens on their garages? I'm from Long Island and have never seen one here. Do people sit in their garages?

There have been several replies over time. We don't have a screen on our garage.

The screen allows air flow so that the interior garage door and another door or window can be opened when the temperature is such to allow a nice draft and enjoy no air conditioning. There are many pull over screens on the front door for the same reason, to create the air flow.

Sometimes the garage with the screen is more comfortable to do laundry or crafts or painting or maybe the kitty is enjoying the space.

The screen also keeps unwelcome critters out, like anoles, (gecko's) snakes and palm rats.

You might not get that many responses since that question was asked last week and the week before. The link below is the last thread, it has about 20 responses you can read.

A lot of times you can go to the search button at the top of the website and find a lot of responses to questions and it's a good way to find reviews and feedback on contractors.

we installed ours so when we open the inside house door the doggie does not bolt into the driveway and get into trouble.. plus the screen keeps the garage cooler when the door is open..

Smile Garage Screens

We would NOT live in Florida without a screen on our garage and golf cart door. Helps with the heat BIG TIME...

Best investment made to the house, well the Solar Attic fans too...

One of the best upgrades to our Villa- makes the garage a creature free outdoor experience in the front of the house. Two chairs , a drink and becomes a nice evening experience watching the goings on the front street.

To keep the elephants away.

But there are no elephants in The Villages?

That shows just how effective the screens are!

Yes, we went with Micheles Hideaway Screens. Very happy. Won't get much use during summer - too hot. But during cooler, winter months it is wonderful getting the breeze and airing out the house.

Totally off topic, but Sarah is adorable. Is she a Cavalier King Charle s Spaniel?
