I am closing on home in Desoto later in the month and was informed that only Comcast services my area. I really don't want to use Comcast and want to use Spectrum.

Call them We are in Fenney and were told the same thing. I called Spectrum and they were able to connect us. I hear Comcast has an agreement with The Villages so at the time we closed, Comcast number was the only one listed.

After calling Spectrum, they could not confirm servicing any street in Desota because it was too new. My realtor found out that Comcast is servicing Desoto but I know people who have Spectrum and live on Spanish Moss Way. I really don’t want to use Comcast because they raise rates too often.

Great decision.....I assume COMCAST provides some sort of compensation to the developer for each connection as there would be no other reason for them to not include other providers. Never assume that what they tell you at closing is your only option, it isn't. SPECTRUM has been our provider since moving here 4 years ago and I had to go find them. I wonder why they don't advertise more in the area, I assume the Daily Sun will take their ads and billboards would be helpful also.
