Suppose some put graffiti all over the boxes ---- Who would clean it off ????
I consider the stickers a type of graffiti - graffiti looks better

GeorgeT 06-13-2011 09:20 AM

You can have my stickers when you pry them from my cold dead hand.

GeorgeT 06-13-2011 09:26 AM

We haven't heard from sticky on the sticker subject.

I think I'll put a sticker on my golf cart. There are so many golf carts here I get confused. While I'm at it I'll use stickers to save chairs at the square.

Can anyone think of more sticker uses?

BogeyBoy 06-13-2011 09:41 AM

You could put a sticker on your golf ball.

How about a sticker on your dog. Lots of talk here on TOTV about dogs, must be millions of them, a sticker would help you to find yours. Better yet, have the dog swallow a sticker then you would know what poop to clean up.

Summers here! First we will hear about stickers on the mailboxes. Next, it will be dog poop!

Yep, with the snowbirds gone there just isn't enough to whine about.

aljetmet 06-13-2011 12:51 PM

I'm glad this isn't the first thread I ever read on TOTV.

But lots of Steeler stickers? :swear:

We don't place stickers on our golf balls but we do mark them so we can differentiate from others on the course. If the sticker does not interfere with the operation of the box then what har. Also some folks have a medical reason to use stickers as markers...remember our age group. i have seen where folks have gone to Publix walked out with a cart full of groceries and drove off with the bags of groceries still in the cart. Also have witness five different times in five years were people left their keys in the post ofic ebox the folks at the Wellness Center encouraged members to add a sticker to their pad locks, especially the ones they were selling since they were all alike.

It appears that other than the USPS had removed these stickers based on earlier post ings. Since it has not occurred in other villages then it is local. It may be that it comes down to an individual or a decision made by the reprsentatives in that region

I am about as fussy as one can get and i like rules but rules that make sense. I will respect and not critique what others do as long as it is not illegal...and I thought someone wrote that the USPS didn't car

By tne way be sure to use D-40 on your key lock to keep it lubricated so the key will turn easy

Pturner 06-13-2011 03:23 PM

Door Number One, Door Number Two or Door Number Three?

We don't have a sticker. We just keep trying our key until one of the boxes opens. :o

Bogie Shooter 06-13-2011 03:29 PM

Sticker books are available at the Dollar Store.

Ode to Mailbox Artifacts

Stickers, Stickers everywhere,
What a sight to see,
Yes, they help me find my box,
Please just let them be!

They don’t really even look that bad,
Not every box is stickered,
My next door neighbor has one on his,
Which helps me find my box much quicker!

I knew that they were pasted there,
When I bought here in T.V,
It was no surprise at all,
Might have been for you, not me!

I looked around before I bought,
Few surprises did I face,
I knew that stickers were on the boxes,
And the Buffalo had been displaced!
(thought I’d work in another hot button issue)

Methinks me read some words of wisdom,
Right here on this thread,
How can stickers on boxes cause such a schism?
I'd rather be golfing instead.

 Rubicon,
I wouldn't bet on it...

I golfed Saturday, Sunday and today,
This Wednesday and Saturday I play.
I might do just fine,
Or I might lose my mind.
... Ain't that why they make Chardonnay?

We can all relate. I'll toast to that.

I'm going to put a matching sticker on my mailbox key so i know which sticker is mine at the postal station. But if I do that I'll have to put different stickers on each key so I know which one is the mailbox key. This could be bad - where does it end!

I see some of the oddest behavior only in TV:)

Well, you could put a sticker on your toilet seat to make sure that the seats not up when you go to sit down on it!

If you need a sticker on your mailbox to find it, you belong in a assisted living home. There is a number on the box that is very clear and the box is always in the same location.

Joaniesmom 01-03-2013 02:58 PM

If your key doesn't unlock the box, you can be pretty sure the box belongs to someone else!

SALYBOW 01-03-2013 03:25 PM

My Process for finding mailbox.

I just remember how many sections from the left and how many boxes down mine is. We are 3 left 1 down. The actually section of boxes should be pretty easy to remember. This eliminates the need for a sticker.:pepper2:

Steve & Deanna 01-03-2013 03:47 PM

Re mailbox stickers

We are in Lynnhaven and just noticed how much better the mail boxes look although we have our modestly marked, plus I can remember our box number. Why, I just don't know!!!

stuckinparadise 01-03-2013 04:13 PM

IMHO, I think the stickers on the mailboxes don't look as tacky as the house numbers on the windows.

With all the dementia, bad eyesight, and loss of mobility, why make it more difficult for old people? What do the stickers hurt, and does the PO want the elderly to be stacked up at the mailboxes for hours?

I agree. And beyond that, of all the things people can think of to complain about ... this rates pretty high on the silly-meter. I know...rules are rules...and if the USPS or their reps decide to scrape off the stickers - so be it. But for residents to get upset about those tiny stickers on their NEIGHBORS mailboxes...Why?

tainsley 01-03-2013 07:22 PM

Agree...what is the big deal! I like looking at all the different stickers!

I'm pretty sure some folks should add some fiber to their diet. It'll make them less cranky.

Easier to use a label maker and paste the box number on your key than to get the Post Office to change.

Why is it so hard to put the mailbox NUMBER on your key? Since you need the key to open the box. Get off the worries of IF you lost the key some one could use it, or other excuses. They would have to go to all PO boxes looking. who would do that? i would worry more about the other keys... but how would they know that?
Btw. I recently saw keys in a baggy at a po station hanging on a wall that were lost. Think some one says . Gee let me take those and find where they go!
Comes down to vanity, self-centeredness, or other personable issues why someone needs to put a sticker on a box IMHO. Same reason people put stickers on golf carts, cars, or paint their carts their college or personal colors. I have been known to always listen to all sides of an issue, but reading these posts I haven't heard a valid one for stickers. Leave public property as it is without putting each personal touch on it. You don't own the box, you rent it, it is not yours to deface.

Bogie Shooter 01-03-2013 08:29 PM

I thought this issue was solved with 60 posts back in June of 2011!

Not a great security move if you lose your key.
