TV here we come!
The movers come this am and we close 8:35 tomorrow. We will head south after that with a kitty that does not travel well. I'm not sure if we will give her the tranquilizer or if we'll take it. This is all so scary and exciting. We are leaving dear friends and a home we love for the great unknown. I imagine everyone in TV has gone through this same experience which is comforting since you all seem so happy.
So many of your threads have been helpful for us. For that we thank you. About Aug. 10-17th we will need to find a sitter for our Maggie cat. We would love to find someone who would not only feed her but give her some attention since she is such a people lover. Look out TV, the Neffs are coming! |

We have been here for five weeks. You will love it. You have about 80,000 friends here. It is like being in a club where just because you have joined up you are welcome to join any of the activities going on. Now there is always a one or two stones in a bag of beans, but you just sit them aside and continue on with having a wonderful retirement.

Have a safe trip down here. If your kitty is typical, she'll settle down after an hour or two, possibly even less and you'll end up with a car-riding-pro kitty (but she'll probably never really like it).
Anyway, welcome to the rest and best part of your life!

Welcome to you.
Although we have had a home in TV and lived there about half of the time for the last two years, we now are putting our northern home on the market preparing for the BIG move. It is scary...but everytime I enter the purified air of The Villages, my troubles slip away. I am so busy and involved that I don't have time to think about the folks I have left behind....and I hear about it too, when they remember to call and I remember to check the messages. If you get lonely, come to our house. Wishing you the very best and sending you this huge welcoming hug! P.S. I would tell you to bring your kitty to play with ours, but our boys don't have any manners and hiss and get all furred up over any kitty they don't know. |

Springfield, I remember how nervous my husband and i were when we first purchased our villa a year ago, especially since we wouldn't be able to move to TV permanently just yet. We fretted about leaving family and friends even for a short time. I can tell you that within days of our first extended stay at our CYV we knew that we had made the best decision of our lives. We've met so many wonderful people and have made many new friends. We will always remain close to our friends back home (We've shared almost a lifetime together). But we already feel as though we've known our new TV friends forever. I wish you the best of luck. But you won't need it in this wonderful community. Enjoy your new adventure!

Hi Springfield,
I agree with all of the encouraging words already offered. I can only add another welcoming hug, a hope to meet you when we are down and a suggestion for someone to care for your cat. Redwitch (post #3 on this thread) knows, loves and babysits cats as well as homes. She is a smart and kind person and I bet your Maggie cat would love her. You might want to PM her to see if she will be available. If not, maybe she could suggest someone. Just think, it's easier these days than ever to stay in touch with old friends. I doubt there's a place on earth where it's easier than in TV to make new ones. Hope to be among them. All best wishes! Pturner |

TV here we come!
Hi
Boy when you think you're alone in worrying about the trip down along comes a comment on this wonderful site that reminds me that so many are and were in the same boat and survived. We are coming to Pennecamp and passing papers (tentatively) 9/3 and leaving up here in MA 8/27 with a collie who does NOT like to ride in the car for a long time and tends to get carsick. Should be interesting! Looking forward to meeting you all. We've been lurking on this site for almost a year picking up hints from all of you nice people and I hope you all realize how helpful you are to the newbies. Counting the days! Nancy (of raynan) |

Safe travels and Godspeed future TVers. Hey raynan/Nancy, I lived in Woonsocket, RI, for two years. That's a long drive. Be safe and remember, the pools won't be closed in August.

Springfield:
I'll give the same advice about cat-sitting as I usually do. If Dee (that's redwitch) can't do it, then ask among your brand new neighbors. I'm pretty sure you'll find someone who'll come and take good care of your feline. The first time I went away after settling in here, I hired a "pro" to come. When I came back, at least two of my neighbors "yelled" at me that they'd have taken care of The Cat. Guess who now sits on The New Cat and takes in the paper and the mail and stuff! Good luck in your drive here. Please, please do not even think about letting the cat out of a carrier while you're driving. Dangerous, dangerous. SWR
