Default Weather in the Northeast vs Florida Weather

Hello. I am not villages resident yet, but I have been on this forum for number of years so thanks for all the tips I have learned. Of course, at this time of the year (with the temps hovering around 25 in New York, I begin to think of all the advantages of warm weather. I also know people in the villages will hibernate in the summer and we northeasterners will hibernate in the winter. So Its a tradeoff.
Now, here's my main point. I don't golf or play sports. I am a retired wedding photographer and I got chased off of many golf courses over the years. I know there are plenty of clubs not sports related so that could work if I was a sports fan. So when I look at all the clubs (3,000?) I wonder how many could one person join. (I am single).
So please give me your thoughts pro & con.
Thanks! MarvinH

You can join as many clubs as you want, and we don't hibernate during the summer. Most of us enjoy the warm weather all year long. It's what you get used too.

Join as many as you want to. I am not sure I understand that part of your question. Are you unhappy that there are so many choices?
As for hibernating in the Summer, not exactlt true. I am sure some who are heat sensitive try and stay in AC, but you acclimate to the Summer temps. I will not play tennis at onePM, but there are many things one can do in the mid afternoon, then play tennis at sunset. Currently I am not retired. I retired from 31 years owning logistics and trucking companies in NYC and NJ. After one year of "retirement" I decided I wanted to go back and started a finance, MIS firm. I got my Fl State licenses (hardest part. It was over 40 years since grad school), and have an office and home in Sarasota County and a courtyard in the Villages. I could not be happier. If you are fortunate enough to consider moving to TV, you have the opportunity to create a lifestyle that fits your desires. Do as much or as little as you choose. It is almost like when I came out of grad school and was about to start a new life, but now I have a bit more experience and hopefully wisdom.

If you are contemplating the possibility of making a commitment to live here year-round, I highly recommend renting for a month down here in July, (or even two weeks). Some people can accommodate to it and be happy, others are miserable. Rentals are easy to find in July (guess why...).
As far as clubs, there is no limit to the number of clubs you can be a part of, beyond the time constraints on your schedule, and your energy level. Be mindful though, that while there are a lot of clubs, not all clubs are available to new members, simply because they are full, and may even have a waiting list for new members.

If you aren’t married to sports, I would search an area that will scratch the itch that meets your needs. You’ll be subsidizing a lot of activities you’ll never use in The Villages, unless money isn’t an object for you.
