Default We're Coming!

Hello!
We are the Kastors, Neil, Mary, dog Rudy and horse, Marty! We are planning a move there sometime this year, like late summer. about not only getting out of the -40 degree wind chills of Illinois but also the prospect of meeting new people.
A couple of questions...we are having trouble finding a Realtor to sell us a pre owned house! We leave messages all over and no one returns phone calls. Any ideas on how to get someone interested in making a sale?
Second..we need a place to board our horse. We were told of a place by Evergreen college (?) called Villages Stables, run by Roy Murphy. We are having a difficult time pinpointing exactly where this is and who owns it so we can reserve a stall for our horse when we move. Any help with that?
Again, we're looking forward to coming down the end of April to check things out.

Default Try Lyle

We were just there in February and used Lyle Gant. Great guy with lots of knowledge of the area. He seemed interested and helpful with us. He has his number listed someplace on here. I think he would respond.
Good luck!

Welcome to you. I hope you drink the water and become addicted to Paradise just like the rest of us.

The Villages south of 466 are where we live and we love it in Hadley but every village has it's own charm. (I think there are 61 now)

Tell us when you are coming a couple of days ahead and we will arrange a meet and greet.

Thanks for all the info! We are planning to come for a visit April 27-30...hopefully to find a house and a stable for the horse! It's harder to find a barn than it is to find a house for us!

Neil, Mary, Rudy and Marty,

You may already know this, but you need 2 people to look at houses in The Villages. One would be a MLS Realtor (like Lyle Gant), and the other would be a Villages real estate agent for the pre-owned "VLS" listings (as well as the brand-new houses).

So, is Marty an Arabian horse? I had an Arabian horse several years ago--he had the sweetest temperment.

There is a horse club in The Villages called Horse N Around. You don't have to own a horse to be a member, but a lot of members do own horses.

Andre Fortier

I'm sure Andre will be able to help with the horse boarding issue.

I've sent you a PM re real estate.

Good luck!

Arabian - I am from Kewanee - not too far from Rock Island. My niece works at John Deere. My sister used to show horses and still lives in Kewanee along with the rest of my family. I am sure you will love the Villages. You do need to go with two realtors. One that can show you houses listed with the Villages and one to show you the others. I went to school in Moline and I know there are several other people from Illinois on this site. Enjoy your visit.

Default Welcome!

Hi Arabian, nice to welcome another from Illinois. My hubby's clinic was in Schaumburg. We went to a convention in Rock Island, beautiful hotel, I think it was called The Clock Tower??? Please pm me and we can set up a Meet and Greet! These are wonderful because you will meet a group of us all at once.

Don't be scared! Hahahah! Anyway, when we moved here about a year and a half ago, I didn't know anyone. Pretty lonely first four months. Now with these "meet and greets" it's like you move in with friends waiting.

You'll love it here!

ILL-INI!!!

Hi Arabian. I live near Champaign - still a TV wanna be. My brother-in-law owns a place near Savanna.

My wife and I are going to visit TV for the first time March 21-28. We can hardly wait! Chelsea set up a Meet and Greet for us. I'll let you know if we survive it. Kidding... kidding... kidding!

Thanks so much to everyone for the advice and phone numbers!
We are coming down to house hunt March 27-30 and have contacted Sandy Macintyre in TV and Laura Vein from ERA to help us. We hope to be moved down there by May. Wow...many Illinois people here! Hurray! It's 49 here today so this is a heatwave for us.
As far as my horse goes, he's up for sale. I must have called 20 places to board down there and they are SO expensive...or too far to drive. It's easier just to sell him, have a good cry and put it behind me.
Again thanks to all for the help. I think we come armed with information and house flyers! You can't miss us on the 27th...we'll be those nice pale people who look confused!

Great news, AH, so glad you were able to find boarding. We were so worried and sad. Can't wait to see you in TV. Keep us posted on your progress. Good luck and have a wonderful trip.
