Default What is your experience with pets and LVP?

I searched the forums and did not find what I was looking for. What is your experience with pets and LVP? We are wondering if urine "soaks in" to LVP. We are thinking it should not since LVP is waterproof and figured we would ask Villagers. Thank you in advance.

go with tile if you can. it sweeps & cleans easy. we had the vinyl the house came with, & certain areas the pet had accidents on faded. a good cleaner also gave us discoloration in spots. tile is an excellent investment, too.

OP, I believe this would be highly dependent on the specific product. We have Mohawk Luxury Vinyl Plank which is 100% vinyl that installs in a manner similar to the typical hard vinyl plank. This product states it is waterproof, however, I am sure that a liquid directly over a seam could soak thru. IMHO, I would go to the manufacturers website and investigate any product you are thinking of using.
Sorry, as for experience, no problems with our pets.

I realize LVP is tough to spell out, but please do not assume most people know what you're referring to.

We had LVP installed throughout our new home 16 months ago. It has proven to be very resilient. We have 2 high-energy, scampering dogs that, for the most part, do their business outside. However, the smaller of the 2 dogs can get nervous and will leak a little. He also took a little time to house-train. The floors show no damage or stains from urine or other spills. The Villages installs LVP as a floating floor (not glued down), so expect a different feel under foot than tile or nailed/glued hardwood.
