POSSIBLE LOCAL IMPACTS:
• Tropical storm-force winds (34kt/39mph) are forecast to begin in Marion, FL on Friday, October 07,2016 at 6 AM. Winds of this magnitude or higher are forecast to continue for 22 hours.
• Strong tropical storm-force winds (50kt/58mph) are forecast to begin in Marion, FL on Friday, October 07, 2016 at 10 AM. Winds of this magnitude or higher are forecast to continue for 13 hours.

PROTECTIVE ACTIONS:
• 8:00 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5TH - Marion County Emergency Management will open four sand bag locations at four MCSO District Offices. These locations are mostly self-serve, but if you need any assistance, please see the front desk staff member at the District Offices during business hours (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily). Here are the locations:
North Multi District Office - 8311 N Hwy 441 Ocala, FL 34479
South Multi District Office - 3260 SE 80th Street Ocala, Fl 34480
Forest District Office - 1600 E. Hwy 40 Silver Springs FL, 34488
Dunnellon District Office - 19995 SW 86th St. Unit 3 Dunnellon, FL 34***
There is no sand bag limit at these locations.

GOVERNMENT CLOSINGS:
1. The Marion County Clerk's Office will be closing at noon tomorrow, and all day on Friday due to Hurricane Matthew.
2. The City of Ocala’s business offices will be closed Friday in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew. Business offices will reopen Monday. The following city locations will also be closed Friday:
• All city recreation and senior centers
• All city parks
• Discovery Center
• City Municipal Services Complex including City Hall and the Citizen Service Center (Utility Billing and Building Departments)

SCHOOL STATUS:
• Thursday – Schools OPEN on normal schedules
• Friday – Schools CLOSED
• Evening activities Thursday & Friday – CANCELLED
• Make-up athletic games may be scheduled Saturday weather permitting.

SHELTERS:
Shelter of comfort for our citizens at the Marion County Sheriff's Office Multi-Purpose Room located at 692 NW 30th Avenue in Ocala.
• Open at 12 noon on Thursday, October 6 and will stay open until the conclusion of the storm.
• Special needs individuals that aren't registered with Emergency Management should go to Marion County Special Needs Registry to sign up for sheltering.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Residents living in low lying areas should prepare to seek higher ground as heavy rainfall will likely result in flooding and flash flooding.
• Do not drive into flood waters, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
• Residents are urged to actively monitor local media outlets, the National Weather Service at Jacksonville, FL or the National Hurricane Center at National Hurricane Center
