Default Talk of The Villages excited to announce first scholarship recipient

Last year, Talk of The Villages decided it wanted to find a way to provide students additional college funds while addressing important issues. As a result, we established our Students Affected by Cyberbullying scholarship to give students the chance to discuss cyberbullying and tactics to combat the growing problem.

In the first cycle, we received over fifty stellar essay submissions from students across the United States. Each student demonstrated strong writing skills and showed resilience in their experience with cyberbullying, which made the final decision difficult.

The TOTV team is thrilled to announce, Emma Kalberer, as the first ever recipient of the Students Affected by Cyberbullying scholarship. This year’s scholarship amount of $1,000 is awarded in memory of all those who have taken their own lives as a result of cyberbullying.

Kalberer, a senior in high school, will be attending the Arizona State University this fall where she will be part of their prestigious Barrett, The Honors College. She plans to pursue a business degree in marketing.

Great Job TOTV'S. Emma Kalberer Congratulations on doing such a fine job and winning this Scholarship! We are aware of how painful Cyberbullying can be as one of our Grandchildren experience it. We're glad for everyone who participated and hopefully all have overcome this terrible trend.

Congrats, Emma!
