Being from CT in a, amazed they are not on the list. It is the most expensive state to die in. Property taxes on my cars in CT were higher than my 1st home here (Ivy on a view lot). In fact we are in CT now for a wedding. Went to the Mark Twain estate yesterday and was reminded that Hartford, CT was the wealthiest and best place to live in the US in the late 1800's.

Since then it has been down hill.

I didn't post thus to be an indictment of political leaders but to see if people from the surveys states mentioned, would find it interesting!

I came from Westchester County in NY and it was considered for many years, the richest county in the USA. It was and still is, a highly taxed community. Most people pay 12K and higher in taxes. One person I know pays 50K a year, but then, he is a millionaire!

$50K on a million is only 5% if my Math teacher taught me well.
$12K on just $100K is not bad either. I am now paying over 20% and feel I get value for money....

I think he is talking about property taxes only.

Not federal income tax, ny income state, sales tax, social security, probably nyc income taxes if he is working there.

If he owns a business, it astronomical

Gee they are all super liberal and will tax the heck out of you. Not sure why NC it listed other than high taxes... unless you are a trans-sexual you might not want to live there. :duck:

And after years of voting the same crooks in they run to another state to retire in. Go figure! Illinois is the most corrupt state on the planet.

Not to mention Chicago is the murder capital of the U.S.

At one time I lived Bridgeport, CT and that made it the murder capital of the U.S.

Sure glad I moved to a place that is really safe.

Correct in that I was referring to property tax. He is a business owner and I am sure he pays a lot of other taxes.
