Default MBT's

The high heels are gone from the closet forever. Now I’m interested in COMFORT!

I’ve seen residents wearing the expensive and quirky MBT’s. Those who are wearing them seem to love them. I’m wondering, however, how many pairs may be lurking in the back of the closet because their owners don’t love them.

If you’ve had experience with these shoes your evaluation would be welcome. Do you love them, wish you had never bought them, or are you somewhere in the middle?

I have the sandals and sneakers. They are in the back of my closet. I think wearing them may have brought on plantar fasciitis. I really liked them and wore the sandals often. Now I'm not so sure. I switched to Birkenstocks and love them. They really helped my feet.

John, just developed a very painful heel spur, this isnt going over too well since I walk up to 30 dogs a day at the shelter. Quite painful to say the least. Do you know of anything to relieve the pain? Cant wear crocks up here in the north too cold and snowy!

OMG I really feel dumb but, what are MBT's?????

Im learning alot on TOTV. Getting quite an education at the risk of sounding totally ignorant!

I've heard of MBTs, was thinking of trying them, and find the comments about them very interesting. Good topic Juneroses, our tootsies are important.

Samhass, when I had plantar fascitis (from doing aerobics), my podiatrist said orthodics at all times are essential. He also said Naots are the best shoe to wear, and stay away from anything with a negative heel, like Birkenstocks.

I think my next purchase will be a pair of New Balance 801. Anyone know where in TV you can buy them?

My sister's Podiatrist highly recommended Birks to her. I guess it depends on specific foot problems. I lovelovelove Birkenstocks, not only because of the comfort and good arch support, but especially because of the style updates they've developed over the past few years.

I also find Merrell's very comfortable. However, there are styles that don't fit properly because I do have a very high arch. The only style that fits me properly is the backless. Merrell's have terrific arch support.

Barefoot, I tried the Naots. You can get a high arch in the Birks. I have a very high arch and the Birks support my foot beautifully. I picked up the Naots at Shoe biz here in TV.

nonie, I've had a couple of cortisone shots for the heel spur, and it helps for a period of time,

I've heard Birkenstocks have the heel and arch support...

I don't know :dontknow: , maybe these funky lookin' shoes (MBT's) are the best thing since sliced bread but frankly I think they are "butt ugly"!!! Don't get me wrong... I am the maven of "sensible shoes". For cryin' out loud I wear steel toed boots for work which I swear weigh five pounds a piece. :realmad:

On the other hand it's not uncommon for me to hear, "Wow! where'd you get those shoes." referring to my fabulous Pepto Bismol Pink slip-on athletic ankle boots; (I can't really tell whether that means the person commenting loves them or hates them, lol.) :yikes:

Often I wear my standard black Penny Loafers. I've worn Penny Loafers since I was 11 years old, (I'm 55 now), the first pair were hand-me-downs from my mother. They were brown (with oxblood highlights) and a beef roll. My first brand new pair were Bass Weejuns; I got a new pair of Weejuns at the beginning of each successive school year until I was a College Sophomore when platforms came into style so then I had platform Penny Loafers then Penny Loafer style clogs. Well you get the gist. At any given time you can find several pairs of loafers, Top Siders, (thinly veiled relaxed versions of loafers), in addition to the, "What did we ever do before these?!?!?!?! Crocs that is, in my closet.

Ever since I discovered Crocs I hardly buy shoes anymore except Crocs in a different color or clunky steel/composite toe work boots. Even my Flip Flops are Crocs lol.

Well all this because of those UGLY MBT's lol

P.S. Quote my mother re. Crocs, "You're still wearing those ugly shoes!?!?!?!" 1rnfl And yes I've worn Roots, Earth Shoes and those other "ugly" things Birkenstocks.... think I still have a brand new pair of Birks around somewhere. Think I'll let them go in the great "I'm moving to TV" yard sale.

Can't post now .. heading out the door for "Shoe Biz" and "Foot Solution" to buy New Balance 801s and Merrells (love M's as well as Naot).

This thread has reminded me to do some nice things for my feet.
