Any time you are at a red light, especially in one of the big intersections please do this; when the light turns green count to five, look left, then right then go forward. If someone behind you honks, don't worry about it. It's better to be a little annoying than be T-boned by another vehicle and injured or killed.

I speak from experience.

I remember, many moons ago, my driving instructor said to look left, then right, and check back left, before you proceed. It's saved me a couple of times.

I think the local police could write loads of ticket at these big intersections.

Well, it turns out both adults had to have surgery on their foot. While I don't have details, it seems the surgery was successful for both. Now comes the rehab. I don't know what these people are going to do -- none of them have jobs that will pay them while they're not working. My daughter, a server, is taking the week off to find a new babysitter. The other two adults will be off for several weeks with rehab, etc. What a royal, stinking mess for all of them. Hope the driver of the vehicle that hit them has good insurance -- these kids are all going to need it.

The paper reported one vehicle made and illegal LEFT TURN and the photo shows the van with extensive damage to the right side.

Most likely the illegal left found himself in the wrong lane and tried turning with the left turning traffic.

Don't know why the oncoming van did not see this in the works but looks to have tried to avoid with a hard left.

Big reminder for all of us...approach through intersection as if there was a FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT!

I'm sorry to hear of this accident and that your loved ones were involved. The best news is,the kids are ok. Lets all hope for a speedy recovery for everyone else. You will be in our thoughts.

I have posted this once before but I think now is a good time to post again. Back some months ago, hubby and I were on our way to Continental golf course for our lessons. We were out by Brownwood where it intersects with CR 44 (I believe). I was driving and the light was red at the intersection. When the light turned green, I didn't go right away as I always look L and R before proceeding through the lights. As I looked left, I saw this white car coming particularly fast toward their now red light. I asked my husband if the car was going to stop? As we waited a bit more it was clear that the car had no idea their light was red. The car traveled at approx. 55 MPH straight thought the light, not breaking at all. It had to be 3 seconds that their light had been red prior to them approaching. All the other traffic on their side had been stopped. She passed all of the traffic and ran the light. If I had gone when my light turned green we would have been broadsided at 55MPH. We probably wouldn't be here now. Please, everyone look both ways before going through a green light and be extra careful at stop signs. It's an every man for themselves world out there.....be safe.
