That is true.

I am not taken up by most Hollywood celebrities. I can't even find a late night talk host that I like since Johnny Carson.

But I like me a good princess, when I run across one.:pepper2:

I miss Johnny Carson also. I could watch Jay Leno but liked Johnny better. Jimmy Kimmel, I can't even watch.

Funny thing is that a lot of my British friends are very proud of the Queen and the rest of them.

I'm not British but, a lot of of what we see is a stage show.
For example, on a tour of the tower of london the guide points out structures that are several hundred years old.
When, asked on the side, did the Germans not bomb here in WWII. The truth that I got was oh that was REBUILT in 1962 etc.
On our side of need for history the US has purchased a bridge from England and rebuilt it in the US. In NY they are running very used English double Decker buses as tour buses.
Currently we are denying, perhaps, some prefer hiding and distorting the civil war, slavery etc.
Like most things, the English Royal family, is an edited fairy tale. The cost is negligible and it is good for tourism.

Good point, I did go to tour Windsor Castle when I was there but mainly because I am interested in architecture. I was just as interested in the bombed out church in Munich which is now a tourist attraction. Tourism does play a big role in historical preservation.

The Royals and the Kardashians are of the same importance as far as Im concerned, not important at all.

If I remember correctly the royals had a very brave and important role in the outcome of ww2. They were quite more then a tourist attraction.

I'm a Conan fan. He is a Harvard Grad, history and comedy buff who seems to get long with everyone.

Take a look of the trips he makes. He has a point of view and stands up for the underdog.

I do like how the citizens respect their royal family. We could use a little of that here now matter who the leader is.

I liked Steven Seagal

Seagal is a dirtbag in real life.

I have a friend and ex-coworker, who sold him some very expensive antique items and had to take him to court...to get his money.

It seems a lot of 'famous' people think they can get away with...ripping off the little guys.

I am sure a lot of entertainers that I have enjoyed I would not want to know in real life.

I'm Irish so definitely not. Queen and Prince Phil are cousins. Also, Queen is actually of German extract, not English. I'm OK with her though. She has three drinks a day. An eye opener in the morning, one with dinner and an after dinner cordial. (Seriously.) Also a decent sense of humor supposedly.

I was a fan of Diana. Anyone else?

We must be related on the Hapsburg side.
