We should all thank God that the current management of the NY Times weren't in the drivers seat during WWII.

I loved the series. I once had the privilege of visiting Normandy..and, when you go, stand at Point du Hoc where the Rangers fought their way up these incredible cliffs to overwhelm the German pillboxes. It will stun you to see what terrible obstacles they had to overcome just to get to the edge of cliffs where they had to go into interlocking fields of machinegun fire from the pillboxes. It was an amazing experience.
