Default Anyone from the Richmond Va. area

Hello
Are there any Villagers from the Richmond Va. area? I am thinking about eventually relocating to The Villages and would like to know if you are glad you moved to The Villages.

We moved here from Midlothian about 8 years ago. Have not regretted it. Summers in Richmond seemed so much hotter than in The Villages. I think it was Richmond's humidity that was so uncomfortable. Don't miss the snow either.

Moved from Mechanicsville in June 07. Love the place and wish we could have done it sooner. The weather is great and things to do no matter what your interest is. I do not play golf and stay busy all the time. Come down for the Lifestyle Visit and I am sure you will be convinced. Understand your having a big snow as I type. Sorry!

We are from Richmond, Va--moved here in Oct. 2007. First visit was in 2000 before we retired but we were impressed with the Villages. We always vacationed in Florida each year and would also stop at the Villages to spend a few days--staying at the La Hacienda Hotel. We had downsized from our 4 bedroom house in 2002- Off Hopkins Road--moving into River Towers- a high rise apt on Riverside Drive. Loved living there---made another trip down to The Villages in 2007 in June--decided we wanted to live here. Got rid of "everything"---furniture,etc., (as we bought turnkey here )-- sold our River cottage in Deltaville, 2 boats, etc. Left all our family and friends---still miss them--but have made many wonderful friends here. We still go back to Richmond at least every 3-4 months to see family/friends but do not regret moving here. Summers are the same--as you know the humidity in Richmond is 90%+-same as here--maybe a little longer here but you adjust. Let us know if you come--would love to meet you.

Gshepdad1, hello! That was a good question. Although I'm new to TV, and regretfully not a full-timer yet, I've met people who live there all over the U.S. So far, I haven't met anyone there who doesn't love it. I even met a self-described former "beach bum" from South Florida who said she was sure she would never, ever want to live anywhere that wasn't on a beach. She loves living in TV. Come for a lifestyle tour, if you haven't already. Talk to folks here from all over. I bet you'll drink the Koolaid, too.

I admit, I'm not from Richmond. I'm just saying.

Default From Richmond

Yep, from Richmond. Lived there all my life til I moved here June,2008. Lived in the city til I was married, moved to Henrico where both boys were born and lived the next 35+ years in Hanover. Mechanicsville near the courthouse and then to Glen Allen (still in Hanover) near VA Ctr. Commons. Miss my boys now but not Richmond so much. All the snow they are having now you can bet I don't miss that a bit!

Nice to see there some of us Richmonders here. In the 4 years I have been here, Pat (PGB) is the only one I have met.

I was born and raised in Richmond as were my parents- West End - Westhampton Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High.
I don't think they have had a snow like they have now since I was a child xx years ago!
I go back for weddings, reunions, etc. but that is it. I do miss the close proximity to DC, Williamsburg, the beach and
the "rivah". (sandybill2: Especially Deltaville)

We should all get together sometimes.

Gshepdad1 - Yes, I am glad I am here. You'll love it.
