Default Auto Info

Perhaps this may be intuitive to many but noticed our VW Golf had no visible keyslots in the doors. My thought was how to get in if the Key Fob battery died.

Googled answer and thought I would share.

How to enter your Volkswagen with an inoperative key fob

Keyless entry is a great convenience feature on late model Volkswagens. The battery in your key fob is designed to last for years and years. But what if it runs out of juice? How do you unlock and start your car? Don’t panic. We’ve got you covered in this how-to guide.

What if the battery dies on my key fob?

You may have noticed on the bottom of your door handle there’s a little notch that happens to be about the size and shape of your key. You can stick the tip of the key in there and pop that little cover off. Underneath is a good ol’-fashioned lock cylinder. Go ahead and insert the key and twist to unlock the door. Now you can use the key to start the car like normal.
