Default Burning

I live In Santiago and there is a distinct smell of fire in the air. There is ash falling from the sky through our lanai screen.
Does anyone know what’s happening?

I can’t say 100% but a few nights ago weatherman Tony Minolfi on WESH_TV talked about burning somewhere and people would smell smoke. Not sure it’s related to what your experiencing.

Same in Winifred yesterday afternoon. Chased us inside, rushed to close up the house. Probably land clearing, then they burn. Seems to be a wide spread pain to many people. Such a shame how much they are burning in Florida.

Don't understand what the problem is. It's a perfectly acceptable method of land clearing. The volume of biological waste would make a landfill the size of Rhode Island. This is a much more practical method of disposal.

It's also something that farms do to fallow a few acres. They give each section of crop a burning, so that it lays fallow and is able to regenerate and remain fertile. Then the following year, they use that section for growing, and fallow the section from the most recent crop. If there are crops within a few square miles of where you're seeing/smelling the smoke, they might be using this method. I don't know if they do this in Florida but I know they do it in Quebec province, Canada.

The problem is pollution, lots of pollution. Also how it affects so many people. You have to be careful leaving windows open just in case of their pollution.
In Va. we take the waste to a county location, then it is ground up, treated and returned as mulch. Recycled and no pollution.
