Default Cicadas

We haven’t lived here long enough to know. Do cicadas come out here? I saw where their 17 years underground are up. Can we expect them here?

Pretty sure the longer 13-17 year cycle ones, are outside of Florida.

But plenty of other types around The Villages.

I like the sound of cicadas.

Since I am cicada-phobic - don't like things with wings flying at me. This news hit home so I researched it. The broods are maturing up north, where I came from. Cicada apparently are in FL all the time but not in the quantity found every 13- 17 yrs up north. We've been here a year & although I hear them, they never fly at me and I never see multiple ones flying around. The map I saw indicated the brood-type stop in mid-Georgia. We're safe in FL - from cicadas.
