Incredible Paranoia ! You have more chance of being run over and killed by a golf cart than from someone locked up in a maximum security prison.. For pete's sake

Not so much paranoia, at least on my part. Distaste, is more like it. When you buy a home, location is very important. Unless you are working there, how many people like the idea of the location of their home near a prison? Like that’s something to write home about.

I guess the houses will be sold to those who don’t mind.

Still, hope springs eternal....

If you don't like the idea of living near a prison, don't buy a home near a prison.

Buying the home then expecting the prison to be moved (at the developer's expense) doesn't make sense.

If Mr Schwartz did not have a vision, there would be no Villages. Will you allow Velvet her vision? It would not make sense for the developer to pay for the prison unless they could pass the cost on. I haven’t figured out that part of the picture yet. But I’m thinking about it.

Who's going to pay for it?

Doesn't it seem that the only people who bring up the prison are those who don't live near the prison. It's almost as if they are trying to convice people that they made a mistake by buying south.

I recently read The Villages owns property one mile away from Coleman. Now THAT is just too close for comfort for me.

Living near a prison wouldn't bother me at all. I guarantee it's far more dangerous to walk the streets of Orlando than it is around the prison. When was the last time someone escaped a Federal Penitentiary and killed someone in the local community?

Your question, do you know the answer?
Sounds like new area bashing to me.......

I like the new area myself, even if it is far from Barnes and Nobles. After a few years of enjoying my neighbors at Mallory and the bookstore I can see hubby wanting to moving south. There are so many good things developing in the area it is exciting, and it gives the landscape time to mature a bit too.
