Duke for the win! Who would want to live by UCF or UT? :/

I think it would be a great place to live. I suspect any community with a university in it would have some affiliation with it. Williamsburg with William and Mary near by would be nice.

Thanks for your posts. I would prefer a place near the ocean and from Virginia to the Northeast. I did manage to find this link, if others are interested.

Most college campuses offer low cost courses for 55+ don't they? They may not be free classes but they are affordable and fun and geared towards seniors.

Are they now allowing senior citizens to take actual college credit courses for free at the universities up north? Or are these senior lifestyle type classes?

I just heard about these types of retirement communities, and I was wondering if anyone has more information about them, other than from what I can find on the internet. Maybe someone lived near one, or one's alma mater is now a cooperating retirement/edcational institution.

After living in Florida for over 35 years, I think I want to explore these types of communities, where one can attend colleges or universities for free, while living in a community near them. I know Penn State has one. I am looking to explore from Virginia to Maine. So, if you know of any, please let me know.

After 35 yrs I think it would be very difficult to up root and live elsewhere. However, I have a very good friend who moved back to her home state and has adjusted very well. She says it is basically a reverse move, she considers three months of winter far out weighs five months of never ending extreme heat in Florida.

She explained that being retired she does not have to go out in the weather, in this day and age almost all the stores are doing Instacart and the other deliveries. She is also a person who loves to be outside and she tells me she can be outside doing whatever she wants to do. She does have another incentive, she lives very close to her family.

Like most other CCRCs, residents at Legacy Pointe will pay an upfront entrance fee when they move in, then monthly payment. Initial fees for independent living units start at around $289,000, and monthly fees will likely range between $3,000 and $5,000 per month, Reynolds said.

I have read that some colleges are allowing seniors in the same class as students, as space/enrollment permits, at no charge.

I could use a brush up on quantum mechanics, Reimannian Geometry and Fourier Analysis.

I'm originally from up north. I retired early, and now my brain is going to mush. Plus, in this humidity it is tough for me to get enough air into my lungs and the heat here is terrible. Before moving up to TV we lived near the Gulf and it wasn't as hot there, as it is up here.
